TV We’re Thankful For in 2018: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Good Place, Arrow, and More (continued)
17. Witchy Women

I’m thankful for the recent resurgence of badass witchy women. Between Netflix’s hit Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The CW’s new Charmed reboot, and Syfy’s The Magicians, there’s no shortage of stories centered around women with important and empowering feminist messages behind them.
Here’s hoping 2019 brings other TV witches into this ever-growing “coven” — A Discovery of Witches hasn’t premiered stateside yet, but from what I hear that’ll be even more witchy awesomeness!
– Caralynn Lippo
I’m thankful for the show A Discovery of Witches which arrives to the states on January. Matthew Goode and Diana Palmer have iconic chemistry. It’s great to finally have a really good witch and vampire show.
– Maii Trueba de Buen
18. TV Moms
This year I’m thankful for all the moms on television. Mothers have always been some of my favorite characters in all media and this year they’ve stood out to me even more.
From Abby, Clarke, and Indra on The CW’s The 100 and Alice Cooper and Hermione Lodge on Riverdale to sitcom moms like Beverly Goldberg on ABC’s The Goldbergs, Maya DiMeo on Speechless, and Jessica Huang on Fresh Off The Boat.
These women embody a deep strength wrapped in an even more powerful love. They’re the kind of women that remind me of my own mother and the kind of woman I want to become. I’m really thankful to watch their stories.
– Samantha Coley
19. Female Showrunners

I am deeply thankful for 2018’s female showrunners and creators. This year, perhaps more than any other, I have yearned to hear my voice reflected on the TV I love.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh-McKenna, UnReal’s Stacy Rukeyser and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, Wynonna Earp’s Emily Andras, Impulse’s Lauren LeFranc, and One Day At A Time’s Gloria Calderon Kellet have provided that voice and renewed my trust in television.
The Golden Age of television better make room for the Crimson Reckoning that has arrived and is only going to grow stronger.
– Janelle McCammack
20. Grey’s Anatomy

ELLEN POMPEO
I’m thankful for how much Grey’s Anatomy has improved in recent seasons and how it continues to tell incredibly relevant and powerful stories even its fifteenth season. The actors are given the chance to offer strong performances, and I’m especially pleased with how Meredith’s character continues to shine and to grow.
– Ashley Bissette Sumerel
21. More Wrap-Up Movies

I’m thankful an uptick in “final seasons” and “wrap-up movies” (here’s looking at you, Timeless). For a long-time, shows have lived in fear that they will be canceled without a second thought, or being able to bring their story to a satisfying conclusion.
But now, more shows and networks are putting viewers on notice that their show is ending and giving one last season order (or a movie) to wrap things up.
The likes of Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, Gotham, Game of Thrones and others all have impending or currently running final seasons, and I’m forever grateful that these beloved shows will get a satisfying conclusion.
– Nick Hogan
22. The Magicians

I’m thankful for The Magicians and the consistent brand new content they continue to deliver. There’s nothing else like The Magicians on right now, and I can’t wait for Season 4 to begin in January. It’s time to see what the beast is up to.
– Cade Taylor
23. 9-1-1

I am thankful for 9-1-1. This show keeps setting the bar higher each week for its level of meaningful content and storytelling. Each week I think I can’t be amazed anymore and they blow me out of the water.
Each character has a part to play and no two characters are more important than the other. Through these characters, we get a full human experience.
– Mary Misasi
