TV We’re Thankful For in 2018: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Good Place, Arrow, and More
The Tell-Tale TV team is once again considering all the things we’re thankful for when it comes to great television this year.
For some, it’s the addition of classic shows on Hulu or a chance for a canceled show to get a proper ending. For others, it’s a show that offers a necessary escape or one that feels personally relevant.
Here are 23 things the Tell-Tale TV team is thankful for when it comes to television in 2018.
1. ER on Hulu

I am thankful that Hulu added the full series of ER to their streaming service this year. Now I can turn to Dr. Mark Greene for sage advice whenever I need it. It’s a classic show that should never be understated for how real and honest it always was.
– Mary Misasi
2. Lucifer Saved

I’m thankful for the Neil Gaiman VoiceOver episode of Lucifer — Lucifer Season 3 Episode 26, “Once Upon a Time.” It was the perfect example of what an AU episode should be and show that Deckerstar are soulmates. And I’m very thankful that Netflix saved Lucifer.
– Maii Trueba de Buen
3. Schitt’s Creek

I am thankful for Schitt’s Creek. The Rose family along with the citizens of the small town bring me such joy. It has hilarious writing, it has heart, and it has performances that are genuine and full of understated comedic genius.
– Erin Allen
4. Arrow

I am thankful for Arrow because it gives me something additional to bond with my wife about. We often miss each other throughout the week with our busy schedules, but we always find time to discuss the week’s newest episode.
– Charles E. Henning
5. Netflix Romantic Comedies

I am thankful for Netflix breathing life back into the romantic comedy and gifting us with Set It Up and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The movies are funny and beautifully filmed, and watching them is the equivalent of wrapping yourself up in a warm blanket with your favorite Snickerdoodles.
– Cristina Iskander
6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine Saved

I’m thankful for NBC saving Brooklyn Nine-Nine! It was a crazy 31 hours from cancellation to renewal, but NBC came through in the clutch to save my favorite crime-fighting team after FOX gave them the ax.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the most intelligent, diverse, and entertaining shows on TV, and I’m so glad it will be back this January. 9-9!
– Meagan McNicholas
7. The Good Place

I’m thankful for The Good Place. You know, just existing. It’s not a secret that the world is a pretty dark and scary place these days, and having a show that’s not only smart and funny, but one which reminds us that goodness is something real and attainable, that we can all achieve if we work for it together, feels like a light we all need.
– Lacy Baugher
I am thankful for The Good Place, which consistently defies expectations. Who knew that a broadcast comedy about death and philosophy could be so forking funny and that it could successfully reinvent itself season after season?
It’s the rare show that makes me laugh and teaches me something week after week, and the casting — even down to the small featured roles — is pitch perfect. Maya Rudolph as a judge ruling on eternal life is the gift that keeps on giving.
– Cristina Iskander
8. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
I am thankful for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for reminding me why I love shows about witches and witchcraft so much. I used to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch every day after school and I loved how campy the show was.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a different tone, but I can still see inklings of what I loved about the half-hour Friday night WB show. Miranda Otto has the same commanding presence Beth Broderick did as Zelda and Lucy Davis is just as bubbly as Caroline Rhea. Michelle Gomez is a nice addition to the plot as Madam Satan/Ms. Wardwell.
– Lauren Busser
