Wynonna Earp Review: Waiting Forever For You (Season 3 Episode 8)

Reviews, Wynonna Earp

On Wynonna Earp Season 3 Episode 8, “Waiting Forever For You,” Kate tells Wynonna the story of how she met Doc, and it ends up revealing quite a bit about Bulshar as well.

It’s a captivating story, and Kate’s quite the storyteller.

The flashback also allows us to see more of what Doc was like back when he was human. He was a bit of an asshole. I guess the time in the well really did Doc good.

In all seriousness, the flashback shows us just how far Doc has come. He’s talked about how he wasn’t the best guy around, and how his actions earned him a trip to hell.

It’s one thing to hear him talk about it. It’s another thing to witness it. Like the saying goes, show don’t tell.

The flashback shows us the man Doc was, and now we can follow him on his path to redemption with a better sense of the full picture.

Wynonna: You became a vampire for Doc.

Kate: And he became one for you.

He becomes a vampire to ensure that Wynonna is never alone. Mortality makes him afraid, and so he went to Kate to remove that fear.

It’s not the smartest move, but it’s getting easier to understand why he did it. Perhaps one day Wynonna will find a way to make him human again, but the question will be, does Doc want to be?

The fact that the flashback is told while Kate and Wynonna are pointing guns towards each other is amusing.

The two of them make quite the pair, and it’s so much fun watching them track down the stone witch together. Under different circumstances, they could be good friends.

Sadly, it looks like Kate will be leaving town. Will you miss her?

Charlie and Doc are working their way towards friendly acquaintances.

Doc: You don’t know her like I do. You will never know her like I do.

Charlie: I know she hunts what you’ve become.

Doc: Well, she will come to understand.

As petty as the two of them are being, it’s lots of fun watching them banter back and forth. Is anyone else starting to like Charlie more and more?

Wow, we get a lot of answers tonight. Let’s focus on some of them, shall we?

For one, we learn why Jeremy was initially recruited by Black Badge.

If you remember back on Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 12, Jeremy said BBD recruited him due to an accident that left a lot of metal in him. What we now know is that Jeremy was trapped with his mom’s body for three days, and somehow he can sense when his friends are scared.

I can definitely see why Black Badge was interested in him!

This is such a great tidbit to learn, and it’s amusing that it comes not in a big, emotional moment, but in rapid-fire form as Jeremy, Waverly, and Nicole try to comfort Robin.

Waverly: Is that why Robin just licked a potato? Because Robin just licked a potato!

By not making it a big moment, Jeremy reveals how he doesn’t consider this to be a big deal. It’s simply a fact about him, and it’s definitely not the weirdest thing any of them have ever seen or heard about.

It’s great to finally get an answer to this, and now we just need to see Jeremy use his skills.

The Ghost River Triangle guards the Garden of Eden? Well, that’s definitely unexpected.

This season has taken a very biblical turn, which shouldn’t be too surprising considering sending revenants to hell is a staple of the series, but somehow it is. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

There are still questions as to why this is something Bulshar wants. Perhaps the garden is the only way for a revenant/demon to move on?

It is great that we finally know what Bulshar is after. Before this, he appeared to be doing whatever he wanted for no real reason. It was getting old.

Stray thoughts:

  • Peacemaker turned blue again! Are we all still thinking that it’s because Wynonna feels remorse while pulling the trigger?
  • Robin and that potato take creepy to a whole new level.
  • WAVERLY WAS GOING TO SAY YES TO NICOLE!!!
  • Julian is totally going to show up by the end of the season, right?
  • Waverly’s angelic DNA has to be why she can wear the ring.

  • I think “Now I can sense when my friends are scared” is kind of a joke, kind of a yeah-I’ve-known-fear thing, not a superpower Black Badge cared about. He also has a lot of metal in his body, though, and I’m sure we’ll learn more about that car accident and its effects on Jeremy later.
