17 Times Sara Lance was the Best Part of Legends of Tomorrow
We all know how our wonderful Sara Lance came to be. She was originally introduced on Arrow, and now she’s the captain of the Waverider in the hit spinoff series, Legends Of Tomorrow.
She’s a strong, female main character who is not going anywhere. Aside from that, she’s badass, bisexual, and by far the best part of this show and the Arrowverse crossovers.
All of her scenes captivate, motivate, and inspire us just a little bit more than the other characters. Not to say that the rest of the team isn’t awesome, they are, but Sara Lance has some incredible moments.
Here we have a list that doesn’t nearly cover the awesomeness of Sara Lance, but these are the moments that stand out.

Let’s travel back in time and start from the beginning…
1. First Impressions Matter

On Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot Part 1,” Sara, Mick, and Snart go to the bar in the 70s.
Sara quickly reminds us that she can take care of herself and is openly bisexual. She doesn’t need Mick or Snart to handle one angry man, but sure, when a bar fight breaks out, she’s more than happy to share the fun.
In this same instance, Mick and Snart get their first impression of Sara, and they automatically feel they can relate to her. They realize that she too is an outcast who is full of surprises.
Even though we’re on Season 3 now, that bar scene is still one of the most iconic scenes of the whole series thus far, and it firmly establishes exactly who Sara Lance is.
It also is the first of many bar brawls and many judging looks from Rip to come.
2. Sparing Stein

On Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 5, “Fail-Safe,” Rip assigns Sara with the task of killing Martin Stein if it comes down to it. Rip knows that Sara would be the person on the team who could handle it and get the job done.
Yet she couldn’t pull the trigger, even before Snart reminds her that this wasn’t her anymore.
Her humanity shines through when she doesn’t kill Stein. Sure, Snart helps, but at the end of the day, it is Sara’s decision.
We know by now our girl Sara makes her own decisions; Snart merely just gives her a suggestion and some kind advice that ultimately helps her along.
She shows her that she is able to resist her temptations, old habits, and still has her humanity intact. Most importantly she spares the life of our “Grey,” Martin Stein.
3. Falling in Love in the 50s

On Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 8, “Night of the Hawk,” the team heads to the 1950s where Sara ends up encouraging a nurse named Lindsay to embrace her sexuality.
Lindsay thanks Sara for rescuing her, not just for the monsters, but for encouraging her to be true to herself.
Sara shows us to be our true selves always, and that it’s okay to be different. It doesn’t matter what time Sara’s in, she never shies away from who she is.
Her confidence rubs off on people, like Lindsay for example.
It’s a moment of Sara basically saying, “It gets better, so screw it.”
4. Saving Young Sara

On Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 12, “Last Refuge,” the Time Masters send their best assassin known as The Pilgrim to eliminate the legends’ past selves.
Sara saves her younger self in Star City.
What’s so great about this scene from the rest is that she gets to show off in front of herself, and she loves it. Young Sara has no idea who she is but is in awe of her skills and strength.
It’s not every day you get to be a hero to your younger self.
5. Grieving Laurel

Still grieving over Snart, Sara discovers that Laurel is dead on Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 16, “Legendary.”
We see Sara for the first time at a complete and utter loss, unsure where to go from here. Yet while she visits Laurel’s grave, she knows deep in her heart that Laurel would not have wanted her to give up.
After all, Laurel was the one who encouraged her to take up Rip’s offer in the first place.
Here we see Sara break down, and we see her clinging to the White Canary; holding onto to her sister’s belief in her.
This arc is so important because when we see such strong characters have this moment of weakness we can relate to them even more in some way. At the end of the day, Sara is just a young woman doing her very best.
6. Queens and Witches

On a much lighter note, the Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 premiere “Out of Time,” is a (bi) delight. First, the legends are in France in the 1600s trying to save King Louis XIII from Cardinal Richelieu’s assassins.
Well, most of the team is fighting off the assassins. Sara and the Queen of France, on the other hand, are making out. In Sara’s defense, Rip assigns her to watch the Queen, so technically she’s doing her job.
It’s fun to see that despite the chaos outside, Sara gives in to the Queen’s seducing techniques and has a little fun.
Despite giving Leonard Snart a goodbye kiss on Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 15, Sara reminds the audience here that she is still into not only men but women.
Bonus: In the same episode, she’s in Salem about to be hung for “corrupting” the women of the village aka giving them their sexual awakening.
Sara doesn’t have any superpowers, but I’m convinced she’s a siren; she truly has a power over women.
This all refers us back to the reminder that Sara encourages all to be true to themselves. She takes the hanging as if she is being presented with an award. She knows exactly what she did, and she’s not sorry one bit.
I think if she were to die, she would die happy and have zero regrets.

i gave up at the suggestion Sara hooking up with a woman is noteworthy because it showed she still likes women after kissing Snart, like you constantly have to “prove” a bi character is “still” queer. This is at least the second Sara piece on this site with a really off-putting take on her bisexuality.
You forgot to add the moment where she became team leader.
