Nathan Fillion to Star in New ABC Cop Drama ‘The Rookie’
Nathan Fillion fans, rejoice!
According to Deadline, ABC is ordering a new police drama called The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion as one of the oldest rookies to join the Los Angeles Police Department.
Based on a true story, Fillion plays John Nolan, who leaves his small town life behind to get a second chance at persuing his dream of being a cop. The light crime drama will focus on Nolan’s adventures of being a rookie cop and all uncertainty and comical times that comes with the job.
The series reunites Nathan Fillion with former Castle showrunner, writer and executive producer Alex Hawley. Fillion will be an executive producer on the series with Hawley, who will also serve as showrunner.

A fan favorite, Fillion hasn’t been far from our screens since the end of Castle in May 2016. He’s appeared on ABC’s Modern Family and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Hawley has also been working behind the scenes including the creation of short-lived State of Affairs and working on one of CBS’ newest series Training Day.

ABC snatched this actor and series quickly, which isn’t surprising given the previous success for the company. Last year, it signed Keifer Sutherland and the team behind Designated Survivor, which is in its second season for the network.
