The Good Place Review: Janet and Michael (Season 2 Episode 7)
Things get emotional on The Good Place Season 2 Episode 7, “Janet and Michael,” as Michael figures out why Janet continues to glitch.
Janet getting involved with Jason, ultimately changing the wiring inside of her, and falling in love with him is such a plot twist.
Jason may be the dumbest, most useless person on The Good Place, but the destruction of Janet can’t be placed on him – as much as I wish it were his fault so there could be some repercussions for him.
I honestly want Jason to screw up so bad that Michael just gets rid of him, even though I know that will never happen.
Michael is the sole reason Janet is falling apart, and now he’s going to have to face the consequences. Even if Janet is the only person, he calls a friend.

Part of me feels bad for Michael because he never meant to have to reboot Janet over 800 times, but another part of wants to not care because he brought this all on himself by continuing to fail at his job.
I think it’s the most ridiculous thing in the world that Janet is jealous of Jason and Tahani together. I wish that Janet knew just how much of a simpleton Jason really is.
Eleanor is right – a rebound usually is what would help fix the problem, but for a human. Janet, a robot who recently learned that she can feel and is in love, should not be focusing on anything of the sort because it’s only going to make things worse.
Janet made a person. A person! I can’t wait to see how Michael tries to explain the fact that Janet made some guy named Derek because she needs to get over Jason to Vicky. Vicky isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but it’s going to take a pretty decent lie for Michael to cover all of this up.

It may not be the funniest scene but Michael checking to see if Janet has blood flow is pretty hysterical, to me. He thinks that Janet is so sick and broken that now she’s turning into a human and that’s one of the worst things that could happen in Michael’s mind. Well, besides Janet exposing him to Shaun and getting him killed.
The Good Place has always been a show that I thought deserved a full hour time slot and I still do. I think that sometimes the story takes too long to progress because there’s only 30 minutes and so much information.

Eleanor and Chidi is the next relationship I want to be explored on the show, Jason and Tahani can take a break for an episode or two.
Other Thoughts:
- Janet chanting “kill me” to Michael shouldn’t be funny, but it is.
- If Janet is going to be more humanlike from now on, I’d like to see her roast Michael’s clothes some more.
Favorite Quotes:
- “You’re my friend, Janet. That’s why I can’t kill you.” – Michael
- “Pop a couple magnets, listen to some No Doubt, dye your hair. You’ll be totally fine in like two seconds.” – Eleanor
