Loot Season 3 Episode 10 Review: Hail Mary Time
Loot Season 3 Episode 10, “Hail Mary Time,” sees the team make a last ditch effort to stop Luciana from ending the Wells Foundation forever.
From the moment she arrived in the series, Luciana has remained a wildly entertaining foil to Molly. While it would’ve been nice for more of her, her return to the season finale is a nice pay-off especially given that her cover is blown (at least with Molly).
However, in line with Season 3’s continual subverting of expectations, the pay-off doesn’t happen in the way one would expect given Luciana’s brash nature.

Molly and Luciana’s big confrontation turns into an emotional heart-to-heart between the two women.
On Loot Season 3 Episode 1, ” Bye-Bye Mode,” it was unclear if Molly would retreat back into her old self. This conversation with Luciana solidifies the steps she made all season long; she’s not the same woman we met at the onset of the series much less the beginning of the season.
In many ways, Luciana is who Molly was when we first met her, and Molly can’t help but recognize it. This time though, she gets the opportunity to provide something she didn’t have when she was going through her divorce with John; she provides insight from the other side.
It’s a true testament to not only Molly’s growth but the reason we invest any time in a billionaire’s development at all: her heart. Molly’s humanity, despite the absurd excess around her, has remained in tact and continues to be her strongest asset in this journey. Her extending it here saves and strengthens the Foundation while locking in her blossoming maturity.
In her personal life, Molly’s also able to have an honest and mature conversation with Arthur as well.

Ironically, they are the most honest with each other when letting go of the structured conversations. Predictable and rushed as it may be, it’s heart-warming to see them remember why they’re drawn to each other and tap back into the magic.
Loot allowing Rudolph and Faxon to play and be silly together again reminds us why they’re the couple worth fighting for. Their chemistry is effortless despite how different the characters are. They sell us on this odd couple.
The emotional pay-off doesn’t hit quite as hard had their relationship troubles had more time to gestate and build. However, that isn’t totally Loot‘s fault given the state of television embracing shorter seasons. Yet, one can’t help but wonder how these storylines would resolve if they had some time to breathe.
This struggle becomes even more evident with the cliffhangers “Hail Mary Time” incorporates.

First and foremost, Sofia makes her decision on whether or not to run for office, although we don’t get the answer. The offer itself felt a bit out of nowhere because Sofia repeatedly felt sidelined throughout Season 3. This potential path would feel more intriguing had there been an actual build to it.
However, the decision lacks heft in the grand scheme of things. It’s undercut by an even bigger cliffhanger.
The finale ends with Maro Gold and Arthur proposing to Molly in a flustered whirlwind. The Molly-Maro-Arthur love triangle had a little more time to bloom than Sofia, but it does feel a tad out of nowhere. Molly and Maro haven’t spent all that much time together, and Molly already runs back to Arthur after an episode-and-a-half with Maro.

The last-ditch proposal feels like conflict in Arthur and Molly’s relationship just for the sake of it. The hurdles of Season 3 made sense, but it would be nice for them to have an opportunity to settle into their relationship.
While the build to these moments was rushed, the potential of both these cliffhangers for Season 4 (should Loot get renewed) promises exciting paths for the series to take.
Stray Thoughts
- It’s such a bummer the secret society of billionaires were essentially non-present this season.
- Molly and Arthur trying to get the yearbook was golden and I’d love more hijinks like that going forward.
- Darcy Carden continues to be excellent in whatever role she touches.
- The Melinda Gates cameo made me chuckle.
