Dark Matter Review: Nowhere To Go (Season 3 Episode 12)

Dark Matter, Reviews

Dark Matter Season 3 Episode 12, “Nowhere To Go,” is the explosive finale that leaves us with plenty of unanswered questions and a feeling of apprehension as a crew is split a part.

This finale gives us a lot of disconnected moments scattered within some action-packed scenes, that have many of us are still scratching our heads as to what it all means. EP Joseph Mallozzi is known for his cliffhangers, but there were a lot of details left dangling on the sidelines, with the exceptional acting that we’ve come to see from the cast.

Two – “I don’t entirely disagree with you but it’s still worth investigating.”

Turns out that Five’s sister was adopted by Alicia Reynaud, which explains why she was there that day on the station. Three is wandering in Sarah’s virtual reality with a look of despair, which also reminds us about the fact that last time we saw her she was waking up to Victor and Shaw.

Three – “Look kid, I’m all for saving the galaxy, but we’re one ship and they have lots of them. Lots and lots of ships.”

Meanwhile, Android finds the Kryden files which holds information about Two’s daughter, which will most likely be a big story arc for her in Season 4 – if we get one.

Two – “This isn’t a corporate takeover.. This is war.”

All of this playing out while the crew gears up for a pretty big battle with Mikkei Combine and Zarion facing off against Ferrous Corp. The showdown is impressive between these major ships, while the Raza pulls out the biggest surprise yet.

It’s the perfect twist in this crazy show because it sets up tearing a hole in the fabric of space and time, which is a massive problem for everyone involved in the war. Not only does it confirm Five’s theory about not having control over the events Future Five warned them about, but it sets up the alien invasion.

Wexler – “Now’s not the time for this all for one shit. We’re all gonna die if we don’t leave right now. “

Seeing The Black Ships coming through is great, and it gives us hope that maybe Ryo and the Raza crew can forgive and forget with a greater enemy facing them. We are left wondering what is going to happen since Portia has taken Three, who doesn’t seem to mind his unknowing future; where as Wexler is playing double agent and we aren’t sure where his loyalties lie.

Overall this season is stocked full of great revelations, fight scenes, and fun twists. The finale cliffhangers, however, are less than desirable especially if the show does not get renewed.

Stray thoughts:

  • Why does Six’s fate always have to be a cliffhanger?
  • Wexler’s comedy is a welcome change since Three has been moody since Sarah left.
  • The VFX team on this episode did an outstanding job!
  • Who is Kryden?
  • #ItsAFanThing and we are all hoping for a renewed announcement soon!
