Wynonna Earp: 5 Pressing Questions We Had After “I Hope You Dance” (Season 2 Episode 12)

Wynonna Earp: 5 Pressing Questions We Had After “I Hope You Dance” (Season 2 Episode 12)

Reviews, Wynonna Earp

On Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 12, “I Hope You Dance,” the Widows are defeated, Clootie/Bulshar rises, a baby is born, and a whole lot of other things happen. It’s seriously a whirlwind of a finale.

At the end of it all, there are so many questions swirling around and not a whole lot of answers. Let’s try to make sense of some of these questions, shall we?

1. What is Waverly?

We know she’s not an Earp, and the prevailing theory was that she was part revenant. It made the potential “Wynonna got pregnant by a revenant” storyline on Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 7 somewhat worth it, but Waverly can step across the boundary of the ghost river triangle.

So what is she?

It’s beyond great that she’s not actually Bobo’s kid. The way he acts around her is far from fatherly. It would have been so disturbing if he was her dad. Still, he claims they are kin. What kin does a revenant have?

Wynonna: Waverly Earp, yes Earp, you listen to me. You are one of the good guys, the best of us, and you are just as much a part of me as this baby.

There are definitely indications that she might be something a little bit more than human, but that’s still all we have, indications.

Annoyingly, this season fails to answer the question of Waverly’s paternity. We’ve ruled out that she’s an Earp and that she’s a revenant, so yay progress?

2. What does it mean when peacemaker turns blue?

There are a couple of peacemaker-related questions. It’s pretty clear that it can hear because it springs into action when Wynonna yells at it to get in the game. Does this mean that peacemaker is sentient?

When Waverly uses it, instead of lighting up gold/red, peacemaker turns blue. It’s only done that once before — when Wynonna killed Willa.

Before that lightbulb moment went off, my theory was that peacemaker turned blue because Waverly, aka not the Earp heir, was using it, but that doesn’t exactly ring true.

Another theory I had was that it turned blue because who it was being aimed at wasn’t a revenant, but that can’t be true because when Wynonna pointed peacemaker at Rosita before, it lit up gold/red like normal.

So, what’s the deal here, peacemaker?

Peacemaker turning blue is a nice callback to Willa’s death, and it’s a great reminder that we don’t know everything about it. Hopefully, we will get answers, but this is also a question that if it goes unanswered for a bit, it will not be the end of the world, unlike some of the other questions on this list.

3. Why was Jeremy recruited to Black Badge?

This is a question that I didn’t even know I had, but now, I have to know!

Jeremy tells Doc that he was recruited because he was in an accident, an accident that left a lot of metal in him. Up until now, Jeremy has seemed like a normal human being. He’s a strange one, but he hasn’t done anything out of the ordinary.

There haven’t been any red flags as of yet, but I’m definitely going to keep my eye on him next season.

It’s nice to get some Jeremy backstory. He’s been a delight ever since he first appeared on Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 1, so I’m all for learning more about him.

4. What was that look between Dolls and Nicole?

What do Dolls and Nicole know that we don’t?

That’s definitely a knowing look between them, and it’s not just a reminder to stay vigilant because Bulshar is still out there. Nope, that’s a secret knowledge look.

Now, we know Nedley had a stack of files on all the crazy stuff that has happened and is happening in Purgatory, so the Bulshar Cult file could be his. It also could be Black Badge’s, but my memory’s not good enough to recall if Dolls had any Black Badge files tucked away somewhere.

I need to know all of Dolls and Nicole’s secrets, and I need to know now. It wouldn’t be too surprising to find out that they have secret law enforcement meetings where they share intel or discuss various impending dangers. They’d probably also complain about the Earp women at these meetings.

The two of them definitely know more than they are letting on. Why are they keeping whatever they know a secret from the rest of the team? Something’s rotten in Purgatory.

5. Mama Earp?

Wynonna has apparently been keeping the location of their mom a secret from Waverly for a while. Didn’t Michelle (Mama Earp) up and leave when they were both kids?

It’s definitely curious as to why Wynonna kept her contact with Michelle a secret. From the looks of it, Michelle probably lives somewhat close by to Purgatory.

Her presence will definitely shake things up next season, especially between Wynonna and Waverly. I’m guessing Michelle will know a thing or two about Waverly’s birth parents, and somehow Michelle knows about Bulshar.

Michelle Earp: I told you he was real. I never stopped believing, and he will rise, and when he does, you’ll believe it too.

The fact that she tells Wynonna that she “never stopped believing” is why I think Michelle found herself tangled up in the cult of Bulshar. If you are in a cult, you believe in the power and magic of your cult leader and/or the god your cult worships.

It would also be a nice tie in to Nicole’s mysterious file. Perhaps Michelle joined the cult in her youth, before marrying Papa Earp.

Also, when do you think Michelle told Wynonna about Bulshar?

There are just so many questions, and, unfortunately, we have to wait until next season to get some answers. What did you think of this season finale of Wynonna Earp? Share your thoughts and theories with us in the comments below!
