12 ’90s TV Shows We’re Still Totally Obsessed With
7. Full House
Growing up, TGIF meant FULL HO– USE. Nobody does wholesome, family sitcom better than Full House. We fell in love with the Tanner family and their unique ability to solve every problem within a half hour.
The episodes I watched as a child I am re-watching with my child. In fact, we’re so obsessed with this show, Netflix successfully launched a spin-off Fuller House, starring DJ (now a widow with three boys), Stephanie and best friend Kimmy Gibbler.
8. Boy Meets World
Nobody taught better life lessons better than Mr. Feeney. Nobody taught me about friendship better than Cory and Shawn. Nobody taught me about true love better than Corey and Topanga. Even though the spin-off, Girl Meets World, is a success in its own right, it’s these characters I’m still obsessed with.
9. My So Called Life
Nobody captured the angst felt by every nineties teenager better than Angela Chase. It’s angst that translates to teenagers today, which is why we’re still watching this show.
Well, that and Jordan Catalano. Perhaps, the obsession runs a little deeper because the series only lasted one season and ended on a cliffhanger. BRIAN WROTE THE LETTER! I’m still dying to know what happens next.
10. Dawson’s Creek
Or as like I to call it: “Pacey’s Pond.” Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, and Jack were overly articulate teenagers living out their drama on the creek. Truthfully, I still haven’t met an adult who talks like them. But that’s not why we’re obsessed with them.
We’re obsessed because Dawson’s Creek had one of the greatest love triangles of all time. Kevin Williamson dared to be different with his triangle and it’s one of the many reasons why we can watch this show again and again.
11. Sex and the City
It’s hard to ignore the impact Sex and the City had on popular culture. Women across the world asked themselves if they were a Carrie, Miranda, Samantha or Charlotte?
Maybe you were all four. Maybe none at all. It wasn’t about men in their lives. It was the friendship between these four women that we connected to.
12. The X-Files
Confession. I didn’t watch The X-Files (ducks as things are thrown at me), but that’s why this show is so incredible even today. You don’t have to watch it to know it’s one of the defining science fiction shows of all time. We’re still asking “are we alone in the universe?,” so we still need Fox Mulder and Dana Scully to find the answers.
