The Originals Review: The Bloody Crown (Season 3 Episode 22)
Marcel goes forth with the trial of Klaus’ in The Originals “The Bloody Crown” because he’s tired of watching the Mikaelsons inflict pain on others with no regard or consequences. Unfortunately the grand event turns into a stalemate where we realize that he really doesn’t want to hurt them as much as he promises.
Let’s talk about it!
Confronting Marcel and coming to seek judgement is the last thing that you expect Klaus to do for his family. He’s been a selfish jerk for too long and The Originals specializes in pulling the rug out from underneath us just when we think things are getting good.
Klaus stays because he knows that he needs to buy time for Freya to fix all of this. He acts cavalier and riles up the crowd to keep them on their toes and explaining the laundry list of grievances they have against Klaus.
It’a brilliant way to buy time.
The hybrid that stands in front of all his accusers isn’t the same man anymore. Cami has changed him for the good and he’ll never go back because it’s an insult to her memory and what she wanted for him.
Nonetheless, the Mikaelsons are terrified of the consequences of their actions. Elijah and Kol are left out of options and must sit back and let others fight this battle because they are slowly, but surely, losing their minds. Elijah, being the gentleman he is, begs Hayley to take care of herself and Hope. *swoon alert*
Freya, the fearless witch she is, didn’t go for the kill shot against Marcel and his crowd of vampires. Instead, she respects her siblings love for Marcel and weaves a spell to protect them until they can talk without the loss of Davina influencing them.
But will time heal this wound, when even Rebekah’s glorious return, didn’t change Marcel’s opinion? How is a man to get over his daughter, for a family that continuously proved that they didn’t care for him like one of their own?
It’s unrealistic to think that delaying Marcel’s righteous anger will change things. This spell is avoiding what the Mikaelson’s did to “one of their own” simply because they have no other plan in mind!
We can only hope that when the Mikaelson’s wake up they’ll make sure to prove to Marcel that they care for him, in any way they can, no matter how long it takes or how much they sleep. They would have chosen a different path if they had completely forsaken him.
Now what? With Season 4 set to return during The CW’s midseason, the showrunners are going to have a long time to figure out what the next step is. Here are our hopes for the following season:
- Klaus will confront his past in a place where he doesn’t need to fear being vulnerable because all those around him care for him.
- Rebekah stays with the rest of her siblings and returns as a regular cast member.
- Freya finally spends time with her siblings without the end of their existence looming over them continuously. They can work on who they want to be together, without holding back.
- Marcel works on bringing New Orleans to it’s former glory and finds that Davina wouldn’t have wanted him to continue seeking revenge for her. She would want him to move on.
- Davina and Cami finding each other in the afterlife and opening a bar for all your supernatural woes and needs.
- Hayley dedicates herself to raising her daughter and protecting her love and family.
Music from “The Bloody Crown”:
