The X-Files: 8 Things We Want From the Revival
Here are the eight things we really, really want from this revival. Number nine would be more episodes, but we don’t think we can ask for that. Can we ask for that? Because we’re asking for that too.
4. A glimpse of William. Or at least some news. Or, a mention.
William is like the most taboo subject in the history of The X-Files. I mean, I get that they had to give him up (Wait, I said I understand? I’m lying. I don’t), but don’t they get to mention him every once in a while? Wouldn’t they try to find out where he is? How he’s doing? This is their miracle child we’re talking about. I’m not buying this while detachment.
3. Scully’s missing brother. Or at least her mom.

At this point I’m starting to subscribe to the “Scully’s brother was a hallucination” way of thinking. We got to meet (and mourn) Melissa. We got to see Bill (more times than we really wanted to, to be honest). Why not Charlie? WHERE IS CHARLIE? Does he even exist?
Or, well considering this revival is just 6 episodes, and we might not have time to get into a Mulder/Scully wedding (prime reason for the missing brother to show up), can we at least get Margaret Scully? That’s an acceptable compromise.
2. “Mulder it’s me,” “Trust no one,” and other catchphrases.
The X-Files was quotable. It’s been eight years since we’ve gotten anything new, and people still use some of the show’s catchphrases in every-day life. They’re part of popular culture. So, we need the characters who made these phrases popular utter them. After all, they did it constantly back in the day without looking silly. Why not have them utter them again?
1. Mulder and Scully to get back together. On screen. So we SEE IT.

This revival was supposed to be about the conspiracy, about good memories, not about reconciling two people who should have been together all these years. It makes no earthly sense. If aliens/government conspiracies and giving up William couldn’t break them up, what’s the excuse? What?
But, fine, it’s done. Now we need it fixed. ASAP. And we need to SEE when it’s fixed. None of this, oh, yes, we got together off-screen crap. Been there, done that. We need actual physical proof that these people had sex. We deserve that much.
