6 Male Characters We Couldn’t Get Enough of in 2015
If we’re being totally truthful, 2015 was a banner year for the ladies onscreen. We’ve seen the return and emergence of many a badass woman over the past twelve months, that’s for sure.
Of course, that doesn’t mean there weren’t more than a handful of fantastic male characters to appreciate this year. From complicated anarchist hackers to heartthrob post-apocalyptic antiheroes, these were the men we absolutely couldn’t get enough of in 2015.
1. Bellamy Blake, The 100

We’re not exactly subtle about our love for Bellamy here at Tell-Tale TV. The short version: his character arc and development over the first two seasons of The 100 is pure genius. Early Bellamy, a juvenile delinquent who shot at the chancellor, is best described as a cocky, arrogant pseudo-villain who could care less about those around him. By the end of the second season, he’d evolved into so much more.
Bellamy blossomed into a true, selfless hero and the co-leader that our beloved Clarke needs. His love for his sister Octavia and his protectiveness of his people make Bellamy an incredible, complex character. Bellamy’s choice to take on half of Clarke’s burden in the second season finale, “Blood Must Have Blood Part 2,” was an incredible moment that’s on our shortlist for best moments of 2015. And all of that is not even to mention the intense Bellarke feels most of us are harboring over here.
2. Elliot Alderson, Mr. Robot

Rami Malek gave what was hands-down one of the best performances (male or female) of 2015 in the USA Network series Mr. Robot. Playing an unstable but brilliant hacker, who becomes embroiled in an increasingly complex, global hacking plot, Malek’s Elliot Alderson was endlessly enthralling and an absolute must-watch character. Elliot was also one of the more complicated characters of the year, walking the fine line between hero and villain.
3. Leo Fitz, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Oh, Fitz. Dear, sweet Fitz. We’ve loved this brave, loyal, intelligent science geek since the very beginning of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but watching Fitz’s totally selfless love for Jemma and his quest to find her after she’d been sucked up and transported to another planet by that stupid Monolith was something else entirely. I mean, Fitz went back to rescue the man Jemma had fallen in love with back on the alien planet because he loved her so much. Well, ah… he attempted to, at least.
The first half of the third season hasn’t exactly been the strongest string of episodes the show has given us so far, but the absolute bright spot has been everything Fitz (or everything FitzSimmons). Iain De Caestecker turned in several memorable, astounding performances that broke our hearts over and over again. Particularly notable moments included Fitz’s breakdown in front of the Monolith (pre-Simmons rescue), Fitz’s eventual rescue of Simmons from the alien planet, and the mid-season finale’s FitzSimmons reunion after Fitz made his way back from the alien planet sans-Will. We can’t get enough of Fitz, his heroics, and his big heart.

GREG!!! <3 I just want him to be happy. And win. And make out with Rebecca.
Fitz is the best human being ever in the history of television. Full stop!
Fitz and Ravi are both awesome, but my favorite on the list has to be Bellamy Blake. As you said, his character arc has been brilliant, moving him from the person whose face I most wanted to punch in the first couple episodes to my favorite character on the show after Clarke, in a way that felt completely organic. I can’t wait to see what the next season has in store for him, especially in his role as a leader and his relationships with Clarke and Octavia.
Yay for Ftiz being on this list! He’s the best! I would’ve put Oliver! Diggle, and Roy from Arrow on here too.
My definite choice must be Bellamy. I love that he is a true hero, but also shows that he is scared. Bob Morley makes this character so rich and multi-faceted. After watching the season 3 trailer I am so excited (and afraid) about his storyline!
