The Newsroom Series Finale Preview: What Kind of Day Has It Been (Season 3 Episode 6)

Previews, The Newsroom

I’m completely, utterly devastated that The Newsroom is ending. The characters, the stories, and the constant moral struggle are what make this show so important. Not only isThe Newsroom relevant, but its ability to grapple with difficult subject matter makes it worth watching over and over again. And from the looks of things, the finale is going to be more than just a little emotional.

In Season 3, Episode 5, Jim and Maggie finally get together (I mean really, guys, what took you so long?), things at ACN continue to go downhill, and Charlie Skinner goes against everything he believes in order to save the network. But in the most shocking moment of the series, he has a heart-attack in the middle of the newsroom. It’s an oddly poetic way for Charlie to die, and it is horribly sad.

Will gets out of jail (finally) and is reunited with Mackenzie, who he married just before going to jail. Unfortunately, Will learns that Charlie is gone. It is a loss that will be more devastating than that of his own father.

In the series finale, we’ll see Charlie’s funeral, but more than that, we’ll see what happens at ACN without him there. One can only hope that good things are coming to ACN after all the hell these guys have been through, but it’s certainly hard to know what to expect.
