The Beast in Me Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

The Best in Me is coming back for a second season on Netflix.

This news may be surprising yet welcomed by audiences since the show was originally billed as a limited series.

Relatedly, Matthew Rhys won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role as Nile Jarvis on The Beast in Me.

A little more than a week later, the show is no longer a limited series. Showrunner Howard Gordon is set to return alongside star and executive producer Claire Danes, who will reprise her role as Aggie Wiggs, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Gordon will co-showrun The Beast in Me Season 2 with writer and executive producer Daniel Pearle.

“We always told ourselves we’d only do a second season of The Beast in Me if we found a story that was worthy of the first — and I’m thrilled to say we found it,” Gordon shared in a statement.

“We loved making this show and our audience seemed to love watching it, so we’re enormously grateful to Jinny Howe and Netflix, and to Karey Burke and 20th Television for giving us the chance to get the band back together and do it again,” Gordon continued.

Deadline reports that conversations around a second season started after the show’s success on the streamer upon its debut in November 2025. The trade also shares that casting for new leads to star opposite Danes are “in advanced stages.”

“We are thrilled to bring back The Beast in Me and to welcome Howard Gordon to the Netflix family with this creative partnership,” Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of scripted series, said in a statement.

 “The series captivated global audiences, delivered extraordinary performances led by Claire Danes, and earned Matthew Rhys a historic Emmy win,” Howe continued.

“We are incredibly proud of what Howard Gordon, Gabe Rotter, and the entire cast and crew achieved. We can’t wait for audiences to see what Howard and Daniel Pearle have in store for the next season,” Howe concluded.

The eight-episode first season from 20th Television starred Danes, Rhys, Brittany Snow, and Natalie Morales.

The show guest starred Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison, and Julie Ann Emery.

The Beast in Me Season 2’s executive producers will be Gordon, Pearle, director Antonio Campos, Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Rotter, Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, Danes, and Jodie Foster.
