The Hunting Party Canceled by NBC After Two Seasons
The Hunting Party won’t return for a third season on NBC.
The network has canceled the crime procedural drama after two seasons. It was the last scripted show on NBC awaiting news about its fate.
The Hunting Party joins the medical drama Brilliant Minds and the freshman sports comedy series Stumble as shows that won’t be returning for NBC’s 2026/2027 programming schedule.

Meanwhile, NBC has added four new scripted shows to its lineup, including Rockford Files, Line of Fire, Sunset P.I., and Newlyweds.
Therefore, The Hunting Party‘s Season 2 finale, which aired on May 7, now acts as its series finale.
Deadline reports that Universal Television plans to shop the series. Supposedly, Netflix is “the logical outreach,” as it licenses the show in the US.
The Hollywood Reporter shared that The Hunting Party, whose linear ratings declined with its sophomore season, received a streaming boost when the first season dropped on the streamer in February. Ahead of NBC’s Upfronts in May, the network was already considering options for The Hunting Party‘s future.

“We have a very tight schedule. We had to look for opportunities where we could grow, so there are shows that we love that just didn’t make the cut,” Jeff Bader, president of program planning strategy at NBC, said, per THR.
Reportedly, NBC considered that streaming performance, but the decision did come down to those linear numbers not performing as well.
The Hunting Party starred Melissa Roxburgh as Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, a former FBI profiler who leads a team of investigators set to capture dangerous killers who escaped “The Pit.” A mystery unravels as Bex learns that “The Pit” is not what she thought — a top-secret government prison.
The series also starred Nick Wechsler, Patrick Sabongui, Josh McKenzie, and Sara Garcia. Creator JJ Bailey is a co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the show with Jake Coburn. Thor Freudenthal is director and executive producer. Michael Jones Morales is a writer and executive producer.
