Not Suitable for Work Season 1 Episodes 4-5 Review: The Jawline of Your Dreams/Fisher Trashen
It doesn’t get better. Not Suitable for Work Season 1 Episode 4, “The Jawline of Your Dreams,” and Not Suitable for Work Season 1 Episode 5, “Fisher Trashen,” showcase how work life just becomes harder for our core five. They’re making big moves and tough decisions.
“The Jawline of Your Dreams” explores some typical work storylines, such as going behind a boss’s back to steal a major client and trying to get a major entrepreneur to sign with a company. Each storyline has the typical hijinks.
The most interesting storyline of Episode 4 is Josh and Elena trying to figure out how to stop an internet rumor that their boss is really a ghost. This plot works because it feels the most unique and relevant to today’s culture. We have all heard some of those crazy internet theories about celebrities being replaced by clones or robots.

This is a variation of that.
The resolution about the ghost feels a little simple, but it’s still really the most entertaining part of “The Jawline of Your Dreams.” The rest feel like just set-ups to prove the obvious: All these people are being underestimated and will prove themselves. Eventually, it gets to the point: AJ and Bill’s kiss.
Bill and AJ are having a sort of enemies-to-lovers relationship on Not Suitable for Work. It’s not a romance you want to happen.
Bill is unbearable, and this mean behavior isn’t attractive, despite Jay Ellis playing him. It’s also an extremely inappropriate dynamic. Plus, the chemistry just isn’t there between them.
They may win us over eventually, but for now, they’re one of the show’s most questionable pairings.

“Fisher Trashen” is all about improving reputations and making impressions. It’s the stronger of the episodes because everyone’s storyline in it is at least somewhat interesting. It starts by dealing with the fallout of Bill and AJ’s romantic moment.
Episodes 4 and 5 start the narrative that Davis is the problematic nice guy. He wants love and romance, but overall, he is not a solid dude.
This is a fascinating direction for the character because it initially seemed like he was just the hopeless romantic who might not get the main girl but would eventually win over someone else.
We hope Not Suitable for Work continues to display the bad sides of Davis. Make him not as harmless as he seems, because there are many “nice guys” like him that don’t realize they’re the problem.
“Fisher Trashen” dances around Bill and AJ throughout the episode, only to end with another big kiss. Because they’re happening so early in the series, they are clearly not made to last. The question becomes, is this to be taken as a real romance, or will the series reveal that Bill is a creep who does this often?

We think the latter may become true. He’s giving more predatory boss vibes than someone so enchanted by AJ. If they are supposed to be a major romantic pairing, the series didn’t do enough building towards them.
Nonetheless, this episode does have some cute romantic developments. Josh and Elena are an enticing new couple that will ultimately fizzle out, but it’s nice watching them for now.
Abby and Kel are really the MVP romance of Not Suitable for Work, so, unfortunately, it may be a season or two before we get them together.
Additionally, Austin and Abby’s developing romance feels like a waste of everyone’s time. He also clearly has some sleaze about him.
Overall, “The Jawline of Your Dreams” and “Fisher Trashen” are okay episodes, but we’re still missing the sparks we usually get from Mindy Kaling’s shows. This one almost feels too standard.

It needs something to add depth and excitement.
