Hulu’s Not Suitable for Work Season 1 Preview
Mindy Kaling has created numerous iconic comedy series. Now she’s back with a brand new one called Not Suitable for Work. The Hulu original series follows a group of 20-somethings trying to make it in their chosen career fields. It’s all about friendship, love, and the madness of the job force.
This isn’t a new concept, but in Kaling we trust. The trailer for Not Suitable for Work Season 1 shows five main characters as they try navigating the complications of their jobs. It’s the temptation of a sexy boss or coworker, the fear of underperforming, and the stigma of being a nepo baby.
The trailer shows plenty of typical comedy hijinks, including food allergies, miscommunication, falling in love with the unattainable dream person, passing out at work, and saying something dumb. It’s being marketed as a new series for Gen Z, but it has many things that everyone can connect with.
We have all had a difficult work situation or two. The show seems like a blend of some of Kaling’s other shows, such as The Mindy Project, The Sex Lives Of College Girls, and even traces of Four Weddings and A Funeral.
This means we’ll likely see plenty of swoon-worthy romances, some coming-of-age storylines, and some thoughtful discussions on race and gender. Plus, plenty of insanely funny moments.
Not Suitable for Work Season 1 only has eight episodes and releases most of them weekly. There is a three-episode premiere on June 2nd, then two episodes the following week, and finally a single-episode finale. Hulu and Kaling have had a pretty successful relationship so far.
Therefore, we have hope that this series could be the next hit for her and the streaming service. Additionally, if shows such as Adults are any indication, this could be one of the next Gen Z hits.
