Will Trent Season 4 Episode 16 Review: Our Last Dance
Grief can suffocate, but it can also make you appreciate what or who is lost. Will Trent Season 4 Episode 16, “Our Last Dance,” acts as a reminder of this. We all lost Amanda Wagner on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 15, “The Blank Expanse of Nothing,” and so we still need time to mourn.
The process starts in this episode, but it will likely carry on until the season finale. “Our Last Dance” takes the opportunity to wrap up the Adelaide storyline in a messy bow.
Will finds Antonio, Adelaide dies, and justice is served…but it doesn’t feel that way. The ending sums up how unsatisfying everything feels now that Amanda is dead.

There can be no justice when grief is so strong.
The GBI and APD celebrate Amanda’s life, but Will stays in the office. This is a look at the sad turn we expect for the remainder of Season 4. Will is filled with so much guilt about Amanda and Antonio that we may see him go to darker places before the season ends.
The Adelaide storyline wrapped up quickly when it finally came time for her end, but it should be interesting to see how the show uses its final two episodes of the season. We expected Adelaide’s final battle to happen during the finale; this choice to end it here leaves the finale wide open.
It is a smart move because it allows the rest of the season to say goodbye to Amanda in a more in-depth and meaningful way. We expect Will to use the final two episodes to process her death, along with whatever final storyline finishes the season.
“Our Last Dance” doesn’t fully allow for the mourning process because Faith and Will must launch themselves into tracking down and stopping Adelaide. They can’t focus on their feelings over losing Amanda until the end.

Will leaves the light and chooses loneliness. We expect some emotional regressions from him.
Our favorite ABC detective has been through a lot over the last two seasons. The death of Amanda may be his final straw. This makes us anxious to see how it all ends.
“Our Last Dance” tries to tackle two major dilemmas. The first is everyone learning about Amanda’s death and processing it in their own ways. Faith and Will take it the hardest. However, it’s seeing Faith’s mother’s return that really gives this episode heart.
We have watched Evelyn and Amanda together throughout the series. Their bond has been extraordinary to watch and always felt natural. Seeing Evelyn break down over Mandy was the hardest to watch during this episode.
It’s the heartbreak that feels the most real.

However, we are sure Will will break our hearts plenty more times as he continues to process this death.
The second thing “Our Last Dance” must tackle is ending the Adelaide storyline. That’s where the show falls short. She has been such a great villain that her end feels anticlimactic.
We know the repercussions are what matter. They will continue long after her, but we want a little more. It feels a bit rushed, especially Will’s rescue of Antonio.
Adelaide’s death also feels like the wrong choice. We needed her to haunt Will some more before meeting her maker. It also feels like a missed opportunity to not have Ulster make an appearance.
Nevertheless, “Our Last Dance” is an okay episode because it starts the healing process for Will. It’s more about the journey it starts and less about the episode itself.
