Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Trailer Features Unlikely Jedi Allies and Sith Lord’s Proxy War
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is already proving that Maul, the legendary Sith Lord, can survive on his own.
With the rise of his former master’s Galactic Empire, he’ll need to rely on more than just his instincts.
Disney+ released the trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, which premieres on Monday, April 6, on Disney+. Two new episodes will air each week until the two-episode finale on May 4, better known as Star Wars Day.

Although the teaser trailer focused on the developing “apprenticeship” between Maul and his newfound ally, Devon Izara, the trailer showcases Maul unleashing his shadow war.
The trailer shows Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord picking up sometime after Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as Maul has been in hiding since Order 66. Although he seeks to continue establishing his own syndicate following his failed attempt on Mandalore, he’s all alone.
Devon, a Jedi Padawan who escaped Order 66 alongside her master, is inevitably found by Maul. They both may have a common threat in the rising Galactic Empire, but Devon’s master begs to differ as they begin teaming up.

While Maul and Devon fight this shadow war, the Galactic Empire is continuing to extend its territory on this new planet. What ensues is another war of espionage and sabotage, investigated by detective Brander Lawson.
Unfortunately, it looks like Lawson will be in a mess of his own thanks to the franchise’s returning Inquisitors.
These two Inquisitors were also featured in previous Star Wars shows before. One of them, Marrok, previously appeared on Ahsoka, while the Eleventh Brother made his debut on Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld alongside Marrok.
Sam Witwer returns to voice the iconic Sith Lord, Maul, alongside Gideon Adlon as Devon and Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, who are both featured here.

The cast also includes Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David C. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord was created by Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm Animation. The series is developed by Dave Filoni and Matt Michnovetz. Brad Rau is the supervising director.
The series’ executive producers include Dave Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes. Alex Spotswood serves as co-executive producer.
