High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 Review: In The Driver’s Seat
Morgan finds herself faced with the real possibility of empty-nest syndrome. High Potential Season 2 Episode 13, “In The Driver’s Seat,” marks the series long awaited return. It’s an okay episode, but the heart of it belongs to the stories back home.
Karadec has been exploring a second chance at love with his ex-fiance. With some encouragement from Morgan and
Selena, Karadec seems happier than ever. He even acknowledges that without Morgan’s influence, the new version wouldn’t exist.
“In The Driver’s Seat” only shows a brief moment of domesticity for Karadec, but it’s more than we have seen in the previous episode. These few minutes highlight so much.

It shows a more relaxed version, a joyful and bolder dude, and someone grateful to have Lucia. You truly believe they can make it work this time.
However, as long-time TV viewers, we know it’s too soon for High Potential to commit completely to Lucia and Karadec. This relationship has an expiration date. It may happen by the end of Season 2.
Karadec and Lucia probably don’t have a future because of Morgan. Even the way Karadec muses on changing his life hints at a love there. He already loves her.
Currently, he sees it as a platonic love, but the TV show probably plans to change that by Season 5. We just need to hope it survives that long.
We need to see the Karadec and Morgan friends-to-lovers storyline play out.

Of course, maybe High Potential keeps them as platonic soulmates, but it already seems like the show has begun to prepare viewers for a future kiss and confession. Therefore, it is hard to invest in Lucia and Karadec’s relationship fully.
They work, but we just know it’s not destined to last. However, their short time together on “In the Driver’s Seat” highlights a side of Karadec that viewers have longed to see. We accept and appreciate any moments of him at home and at peace.
Kaitlin Olson has always been a great comedic actress. The Emmy snubs of the entire cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia should be classified as a crime at this point. All of the actors are brilliant.
They should be the ones winning in the comedy categories. Olson has shown for years some of her best work as Dee Reynolds. Nonetheless, it’s nice to see her finally getting deserved accolades on shows such as Hacks and The Mick.
High Potential proves she does drama just as well. Morgan’s moments with both of her children in “In the Driver’s Seat” are heartwarming, heartbreaking, and sentimental in a charming way. Elliot and Morgan specifically pull on the heartstrings.

JUDY REYES, DANIEL SUNJATA
Morgan is a caring and compassionate mother. She would do anything for her. This includes letting them go.
The series excels at convincing you that Elliot may leave the series. Therefore, you also exhale when Morgan discovers that he doesn’t plan to take the offer. Ava assists in making this moment special because her speech to keep Elliot around shows how much she adores her family.
As a teen girl, she may have all the angst, but it’s a testament to Morgan’s parenting and love that Ava understands and appreciates her mother’s care.
High Potential has always been at its strongest when it focuses on Morgan’s life outside of her job. “In The Driver’s Seat” once again supports this claim. It also adds that all domestic storylines add to the show’s strength, because we’re just as invested in Karadec’s life at home as we are with Morgan’s home life.
Stray Thoughts
- As a Righteous Gemstones fan, I find it hard to accept Tim Baltz in a criminal role.
- Hopefully, finally, we get somewhere with this Roman disappearance case.
