The Rookie Season 8 Episode 5 Preview: The Network
Garza returns with Grey to enlist the team and an old colleague for help on The Rookie Season 8 Episode 5, “The Network.”
SSA Garza last appeared on The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1, “Czech Mate,” when Grey agreed to join the FBI task force. On “The Network,” that means uncovering a criminal network with the assistance of Aaron Thorsen.
Tru Valentino reprises his role after exiting the series as a series regular after The Rookie Season 6 Episode 10, “Escape Plan.” The episode’s promo video shows Celina and Lucy reacting to Aaron returning to the Mid-Wilshire Station in style.
Garza then explains that his “team has been chasing a private phone network used by the biggest heroin trafficker and a man” Aaron was “incarcerated with.” So, Garza wants Aaron to reconnect with Kadir so the team “can bug the network and spy on all of their calls.”
That operation is easier said than done, as Aaron warns that “Kadir is a smart dude. He’s going to get suspicious.” It appears that’s exactly what happens. John warns Garza, “They are going to nuke the place,” leaving the field team to retreat as quickly and safely as possible.
The Rookie will also see Nolan, Miles, Lucy, and Celina respond to an officer-involved shooting. It’s unclear if that incident is connected to the bigger story.
Elsewhere, it seems like “The Network” will see Wesley announce his campaign for Los Angeles District Attorney. The photo of Nyla and James looks very similar to that scene in the season’s trailer.
