5 Underrated Apple TV Comedies You Should Watch Now
While Apple TV+ may have some great sci-fi/fantasy and drama TV shows like Pluribus and Severance, the streamer also has a fantastic comedy slate. After all, one of the streamer’s biggest shows is Ted Lasso.
But besides the extremely popular show about a beloved football coach, there are plenty of other comedies people have been missing out on. From multi-genre musical comedies to sitcoms about charitable billionaires, Apple TV+ has so many hilarious shows that deserve more attention.
Here are 5 underrated Apple TV+ comedies you should definitely watch, in no particular order:
1. Shrinking

The premise of Shrinking might sound like a more serious show, but for a show about therapy and grief, it’s surprisingly funny. It follows a therapist, Jimmy, who copes with the tragic passing of his wife with the support of his co-workers, friends, and family.
This show manages to balance honest conversations about mental health and outrageous, laugh-worthy storylines. Also, the friendships between Jimmy and his co-workers in Shrinking are guaranteed to melt anyone’s heart.
The series returns in January with Season 3, so now is the perfect time to tune in!
2. Mythic Quest

Even if you’re not a video game fan, Mythic Quest is well worth watching. Set in the office of a video game company, this show provides a glimpse into the elusive world of game development.
The characters’ cutthroat competitiveness is so uniquely fun to watch. In particular, Ian and Poppy’s friendship, which frequently veers into a toxic partnership, is extremely entertaining.
Unfortunately, after four seasons, Apple TV canceled Mythic Quest this year. However, that means the show now makes a great binge-watch.
3. Murderbot

If you’re looking for a show that bridges the world between sci-fi and comedy, Murderbot fits the bill perfectly. It’s about a security unit robot that keeps a group of explorers company and slowly becomes more human over time.
The show successfully juggles world-building, meaningful character development, and comic relief. Additionally, Alex Skarsgård makes a great leading man, as his performance as a robot is shockingly convincing.
Murderbot Season 2 has already been confirmed, and with how great Season 1 was, the series has the potential to be a series that sticks around for a while.
4. Loot

Comedy legend Maya Rudolph’s involvement in Loot alone should convince anyone to tune in. This sitcom explores the life of a divorced billionaire and her co-workers at a charitable foundation attempting to make the world a better place.
Loot is a cathartic show and the perfect watch to cope with the seemingly dystopian realities of the world. It’s refreshing to see a show that earnestly seeks to address a prevalent global concern while also making viewers laugh.
As Season 3 wraps up, Loot fans are crossing their fingers that the show gets brought back for another season. After all, what other outlet do we have to laugh at the absurd wealth of billionaires?
5. The Afterparty

For how creative it is, The Afterparty doesn’t nearly get enough recognition. Each episode is shot in a different film style and focuses on a character’s perspective to slowly reveal the real killer of the season.
Also, the cast for each season is absolutely stacked. Season 1 included big names like Ben Schwartz and Dave Franco, while Season 2 featured actors like John Cho and Ken Jeong.
Just like Mythic Quest, The Afterparty ended way too early, with only two seasons. Still, it remains one of the best comedic murder mystery shows on television in recent years.
