Things take a (possibly) science-fiction turn when a U.S. Navy pilot goes missing on NCIS: Sydney Season 3 Episode 4, “The Truth Is Outback.”

The team’s latest case takes them to a UFO hotspot in the Outback. It’s there that the pilot disappears after being chased by blinding lights.

The promo video suggests that this investigation goes beyond the one missing-person case. Mackey looks over a board of women, who also, seemingly, went missing from that same location. 

Given the stickers on the phone case that JD finds, it seems like someone may have gone to that UFO hotspot because of their interest in aliens. Could someone be using that for something nefarious, like kidnapping people, or is there something sci-fi happening?

Well, that’s for the team to uncover, and it looks like it may take them longer than anticipated. Why else do Evie and DeShawn need to camp out with a fire? Are they lost? Are they waiting to see if they can find any more clues — or those blinding lights — at night?

Regardless, Mackey poses the main question of the promo video: Why doesn’t JD pick up the phone when she calls? Their banter just keeps getting better!
