What to Expect from NCIS: Sydney Season 3 Episode 1: Gut Instinct

The team returns to investigate the discovery of two missing U.S Navy aviators on NCIS: Sydney Season 3 Episode 1, “Gut Instinct.”

The season premiere’s sneak peeks show the aviators under the impression that whatever happened to them only happened six to eight weeks ago. However, Mackey learns that it may have happened years ago. The team will have to put together the pieces to find the answers they need.

The episode’s description suggests that whatever is happening in the Coral Sea leads the ensemble to expose a sinister terrorist plot. 

One sneak peek reveals that Blue resigned a month ago, giving this season a time jump from NCIS: Sydney Season 2 Episode 10, “Sting in the Tail.” Does Blue’s resignation have anything to do with the woman in her apartment in the Season 2 finale?

Meanwhile, NCIS: Sydney Season 3 gains a new character in Claude Jabbour as Travis “Trigger” Riggs. Evie doesn’t seem to be the fondest of him, but DeShawn is trying to convince Evie to give Trigger a chance. DeShawn suggests that they show Trigger some “NCIS: Sydney love.”

Elsewhere, JD told Evie he’s on a dating app, and Evie passed that information along to Mackey. JD and Mackey’s exchange about all of that is the best kind of awkward, doubling down on their potential after last season. 

“In its third season, NCIS: Sydney is back to business in the glistening Harbour City, having escaped the belly of the beast in their croc-fueled Top End adventure. But little do they know, something even more dangerous is coming back to bite them: their own pasts,” per the season’s synopsis.
