Brilliant Minds Season 2 Adds Brian Altemus and John Clarence Stewart as Series Regulars
Two new doctors are joining the staff of Bronx General Hospital for Brilliant Minds Season 2.
Deadline exclusively reported that Brian Altemus (Harlan Coben’s Shelter) and John Clarence Stewart (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) are joining NBC’s medical drama as series regulars.
Altemus will play a new neurology resident, Dr. Charlie Porter, “who is guarded, competitive, and hiding something from his fellow doctors. Charlie believes in winning and sees medicine not as a calling, but a sport,” per the character’s description.

Meanwhile, as TV Line confirms, Stewart will portray a mid-career ER doctor named Dr. Anthony Thorne. The character has “grown a little too comfortable with the maxim that emergency medicine is blue-collar work.
Anthony is described as “charmingly acerbic, allergic to anything or anyone too earnest, and believes helping a little for all is better than doing the most for a few, putting him in direct conflict with Dr. Wolf.
This casting news is the first development for the show’s second season, inspired by author and physician Oliver Sacks, since its renewal in May 2025. As previously reported, NBC renewed Brilliant Minds alongside The Hunting Party, also returning for a sophomore season.
Those shows return alongside previously-renewed dramas Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med, as well as Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU.

According to NBC’s programming schedule, Brilliant Minds Season 2 will, like its debut season, air on Mondays at 10/9c. As of reporting, there is no premiere date for the season.
The series stars Zachary Quinto, Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, and Donna Murphy. Michael Grassi serves as creator, writer, and executive producer on Brilliant Minds.
Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Melissa Aouate, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis, and Shefali Malhoutra also executive produce the series.
Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, The Imaginarium, Grassi Productions, and Tavala produce in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
