Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 15 Review: Bust Your Windows
Roommate drama, fake superheroes, and the beginnings of a possible new romance make Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 15, “Bust Your Windows,” a fun and lighthearted episode.
Plus, Lucas manages to prove himself to Catherine, not because of his surgical skills, but because of his sensitivity to a patient. Let’s break it all down.

Busted Window, Literally:
The dramatic moment of this episode is the one that gives it its title. It’s a windy day, and that wind picks up just enough to cause a window washer to go crashing through a window in the pediatric wing.
He admits he shouldn’t have worked that day, but says he didn’t want to disappoint the kids. The children in the pediatric wing, it turns out, look forward to seeing the “superhero” come by the window on this regular schedule.

The crashing through the window bit is dramatic and causes enough chaos to move the story along, but it’s not as tragic as it could have been. His surgery goes well, even when Winston has to step outside of his comfort zone on a moment’s notice to remove a clot in his brain — a moment that shocks and impresses Jules.
Jules and Winston:
Jules has been working with Winston regularly after asking him to mentor her, and they’ve bonded in the process. She decides she thinks Winston should face a different type of fear, and drags him up to the roof to see the view of Seattle.

It seems to have exactly the effect that you’d imagine. A nighttime view of Seattle from the roof, in private, after a stressful surgery? Then Winston offers Jules his jacket? It’s definitely the start of something between the two of them, and honestly, it could make for good storytelling to see them navigate that.
Hospital Superheroes:
Meanwhile, the window washer’s accident leaves at least one pediatric patient in distress. He’s not aware of the incident, but he refuses to walk after his surgery (a necessary step for his recovery) because he knows the “superhero” is supposed to come by the window soon. He doesn’t want to miss it.
Ben and Helm, working together on this patient, are forced to get creative for one of the sweetest, most adorable, and silliest patient interactions we’ve seen on Grey’s Anatomy in a long time.
They dress as superheroes, using hospital gowns and masks to create their costumes. And it works.

Helm, however, has been cold to Ben from the beginning of the episode, and he finally asks why. He’s trying to make friends with her, and she hasn’t been interested. It turns out, she’s struggling to cope with the stress of Schmidt leaving the program.
Not only has she lost her friend, but she’s lost her co-chief resident, which has doubled her workload, and she’s lost a roommate, which means there’s no help on that front either. She’s also lost her study buddy.
When Ben offers to study for the boards with her — he was hoping to find someone to study with, too, since Bailey drew a boundary with that — she softens toward him. It’s an endearing moment and could make for a fun friendship.
Roommate Drama:
A little roommate drama always makes Grey’s Anatomy feel like it did in the early days, and this is no exception. With Mika gone, the only two interns living in the Meredith Grey house are Simone and Blue, and the two are clashing.

Blue doesn’t realize how terrifying it would be for Simone to find a strange man in their house. He didn’t talk to Simone first about letting this person crash at the house, and it’s the last straw in what sounds like a lot of other smaller issues.
Mika had been their buffer, and without her there, they’re struggling as roommates. They do come to a friendly agreement after talking this out a bit, and that results in Blue being okay with them inviting Lucas to move back in.
However, when Simone is about to tell Lucas the news, he has bigger news that causes her to hesitate.
Lucas Gets a Win:
For that bit, we have to back up a little. Lucas has been determined to convince Catherine to allow him to stay with his class rather than repeat his intern year. Richard arranges for Lucas to help Catherine in the clinic, and he hopes to impress her there, but ultimately has to put a patient’s needs first.

This episode is full of endearing moments, but Lucas pretending to be called away for an emergency surgery because he realizes this young girl isn’t comfortable with him being there for hers — a procedure with her uterus — is a sweet, selfless act.
It’s that sensitivity to the patient that causes Catherine to finally change her tune and tell Lucas he can remain with his class.
When Lucas shares that good news with Simone, though, he starts talking about what their future could look like years down the line. That’s what gives Simone pause over asking him to move back into the house. I don’t know about you, but that makes my heart sink a little.
