News

The elements of power are back in play in the world of Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios announced Avatar: Seven Havens, a new show from original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

As reported by Deadline, Avatar: Seven Havens will consist of 26 episodes and be 2D-animated. Though there is no official release date, fans can expect that and casting to be announced later.

Avatar: Seven Havens will see the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender shaken as a new Avatar rises from its ashes.

Set after the events of The Legend of Korra, the new Avatar, a young Earthbender, discovers that her powers make her dangerous. As such, she will be on the run from both human and spiritual threats that want to take her down.

Her journey will take her and her long-lost twin sister throughout the continents as they uncover their hidden origin, hoping to save what remains of the Seven Havens.

From this synopsis, it’s expected that the Four Nations that once ruled the world have been shattered into multiple regions. Though it’s unclear what the Seven Havens are, it’s certain that these two sisters will see their different worlds coming together.

In addition, DiMartino and Konietzko also shared their thoughts on this new project and teased what was to come.

“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” DiMartino and Konietzko said per Variety. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

“For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally,” Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said.

“We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.”
