Dexter: Original Sin, Previews

We are at the midpoint of this heart-pounding series, and the tension is ratcheting up. This week, our rag-tag team of characters flails about in a web of suspicion, and Deb remains in what she knows is a dangerous romance.

In the opening scene from the Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 6, “The Joy of Killing” trailer, we’re teased by an innocent question from Dexter, “So, any fun plans for the night?”

Check out Patrick Gibson’s eyebrows and expressions in this scene—they’re filled to the brim with humor. But this casualness hides the darkness lurking beneath Miami’s tranquil façade and shows Dexter is getting better at deception. Finally!

The plot thickens with the discovery of another body. In a chilling voiceover, Dexter ponders a connection between the last two victims and this current slaughter. Wouldn’t he know?

We see a boy in a Miami Middle School basketball jersey trapped in what appears to be a hollowed-out wall in a dank basement. With only a dismal lantern for company, the child begs to go home.

Cut to Captain Spencer vowing to rain hell on the demon responsible. It’s unclear to me whether he’s referring to the kidnapped boy or the three bodies, but I pity the person when he finds them.

Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 6, “The Joy of Killing,” looks like a game changer. With danger lurking around every corner and trust in short supply, it’s becoming clear no one is safe.
