Dexter: Resurrection is keeping Dexter’s story alive for another season.

Series star and executive producer Michael C Hall confirmed the news with a video. “There’s more to come. The writers room is assembling now, and details will be forthcoming,” Hall shared. “The story continues,” he added.

The SHOWTIME original series’ renewal comes after it wrapped up its first season with Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Episode 10, “And Justice For All…,” in September.

It debuted with Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, “A Beating Heart… / Camera Shy,” in July 2025. Variety reports that the series premiere pulled 4.4 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days.

Dexter: Resurrection is a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, another spinoff of Dexter. The original series starred Michael C Hall as the titular serial killer, debuted in 2006, and aired for eight seasons.

This series picks up weeks after Dexter reunites with his son, Harrison Morgan, by taking a bullet for him on Dexter: New Blood. Jack Alcott reprises his role of Harrison.

“As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together,” per the show’s description.

This renewal also comes after another chapter of Dexter’s story closed. Despite its initial renewal for a second season, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME reversed its decision for Dexter: Original Sin, canceling the prequel series.

The series also stars Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, with James Remar as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan, and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater.
