Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Just Stable Children
People often use the phrase “Love can make you do crazy things,” and Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 4, “Just Stable Children,” proves that point is accurate for university-level relationships.
Even though every relationship in this show has flaws, Bree and Lucy are neck and neck for who has the most drama-filled love life.
Now that Bree is officially done with Evan and has come to the realization that it was always her pining for him instead of both of them giving equal effort to the relationship, she decides to put her needs first.

Putting herself first, she makes the somewhat dumb decision to start a relationship with Oliver — the hot professor and her writing professor’s husband.
It’s not a real shock that these two finally acknowledge the sparks between them. It’s only become more and more noticeable during each episode this season.
But it is surprising how quickly Bree comes to her senses about what’s happening between these two.
It’s one thing to have your sexual needs fulfilled, especially by someone as good-looking as Oliver. However, despite his warning that “I will never leave my wife,” Bree seems to have forgotten the crucial part of that statement is that he loves his wife.

Since his wife is also her writing teacher, it was only a matter of time before the three of them were in a room together.
When this happens, some alarm bells finally seem to go off in Bree’s head, and she realizes that this is someone’s life that she’s affecting, even outside the two of them.
Admitting when you are doing something wrong can take a lot of courage, so Bree gets half points for acknowledging that.
I can’t look past that she’s purposely trying to get closer to his wife now while still sleeping with and expecting a relationship with her husband. I’m all for female empowerment, but this definitely is not a very “girls girl” move on Bree’s part.
It will be interesting to see how much further their relationship goes, especially now that she’s lying to Oliver, telling him the relationship is their secret after telling Lucy everything.

Lucy’s relationship with Leo is developing, and I could not be more excited as someone who wants them to be endgame. Unfortunately, every win is followed by a loss — and the loss is our patience with Lucy.
It’s understandable that after everything Stephen put her through (lying to her about his relationships with Diana and Macy and the constant gaslighting and belittling), These are all valid points to be cautious of your heart and your new relationship.
What isn’t okay is that after Leo shows up for her whenever she needs him, is open and honest about his struggles, and treats her like the queen she is, Lucy still has the gall to accuse him of being like Stephen.
He respects her choice to hold off on having sex until she feels comfortable with herself, their relationship, and the time. But somehow, when she says she’s ready to take the next step, his grabbing protection is a sign of a toxic man.

It makes sense where she’s coming from. Stephen used a condom despite her being on birth control (and after her saying it was okay not to), but he did use one because he was sleeping with other people at the same time.
Yet, after all that Leo has done for her and the respect and kindness he’s shown her in some of her more challenging moments, this feels a bit ridiculous on her part — and frankly, so rude to Leo.
Even though she takes time to reflect and apologize to Leo for her uncalled-for accusations, the pair makes up.
It makes me wonder how long their relationship will last before Leo finally gets tired of the drama Lucy brings, both intentionally and unintentionally.
