Only Murders in the Building Uncovers Early Season 5 Renewal at Hulu

Charles, Oliver, and Mabel’s murder mysteries will continue! Only Murders in the Building has received an early Season 5 renewal from Hulu.

Like the last four seasons, the comedic murder-mystery show’s fifth season will consist of ten episodes, according to Variety. 

Little is known about the recently renewed season, let alone the murder victim. However, its recent season only started with Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 1, “Once Upon a Time in the West,” on Tuesday, August 27.

Plus, the series has developed a pattern of revealing the next season’s victim in the current season’s finale. Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 10, “Opening Night,” does that with the reveal of Sazz Pataki’s (Jane Lynch) murder. 

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 sees Charles, Oliver, and Mabel investigate Sazz’s death, leading them to Los Angeles. Upon arrival, the trio learns about a film adaptation of their podcast. 

The fourth season stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Michael Cyril Creighton. This season’s guest stars include Meryl Streep, Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jane Lynch, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Molly Shannon, and Richard Kind.

The show’s renewal comes after Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 2, “Gates of Heaven,” streamed on Tuesday, September 3, on Hulu. 

“In this day and age, to have five seasons of anything is extraordinary, and it’s all due to this incredible group. I feel so honored to work with everyone both on screen and off screen on this one,” co-creator John Hoffman shared, per TVLine.

“I love the challenge of stepping up each season and doing our best to take a podcast pivot into a whole new world. That’s the other thing: We’re all interested in the ways in which we pivot,” Hoffman continued.

“Everybody has been of like mind on this one, and it’s a sweet feeling for all of us to have this moment with this show, and know the way that it has landed with the world, and that people have embraced it. It’s overwhelming,” Hoffman concluded.

Steve Martin and John Hoffman created Only Murders in the Building. Martin, Hoffman, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal executive produce the series. 2oth Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, produces the comedy.
