Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episodes 1-4 Review: Pilot / A Shiksa Walks into a Temple / Either Aura / Obliterated
Romantic comedies have a timeless formula that instantly makes people connect and fall in love with them. If the cast and crew understand the genre, magic happens. Nobody Wants This creates magic.
It starts with the classic premise of boy meets girl, the boy and girl fall but then have to deal with the stress of family, obligations, and fears. Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot,” Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episode 2, “A Shiksa Walks into a Temple,” Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episode 3, “Either Aura,” and Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episode 4, “Obliterated” all deal with Noah and Joanne deciding whether this relationship is worth exploring.
Obviously, it’s a romantic comedy TV series, so for them, it’s all worth the highs and lows.

Instantly, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are likable and have chemistry. The pair immediately bring a sense of nostalgia to those who grew up watching them on Veronica Mars and The OC. We knew they were great in these roles, but Nobody Wants This proves that they’re great in general at creating chemistry.
It isn’t just Veronica and Logan or Seth and Summar that ooze chemistry, it’s Noah and Joanne too. Bell and Brody need to work together to start their romantic comedy renaissances.
More films and TV shows with them as a pair and more, in general, with them leading it. The chemistry should be bottled and sold. It brings you back to kicking your feet and twirling your hair days of romance.
Their chemistry is really what makes this worth watching. You immediately invest in Noah and Joanne as a pair. And that’s what you would want from a romantic comedy TV show, charming leads that you want to see together.
Each episode has a distinct storyline but they all basically blend into one. Nobody Wants This is the type of series that only works on a streaming model. You wouldn’t be too inspired to return every week simply based on the plots of each episode.

It’s about the whole storyline.
That’s one of the biggest issues of Nobody Wants This. It’s a series that has a weak plot but strong characters and leads. The main conflict in the first four episodes is that Joanne is not a Jewish girl and Noah is a rabbi whose family wants him with a Jewish girl.
Now, in real life, this might be a huge problem. However, the stakes are low for a romantic comedy. This difference may temporarily break them up but we know by the finale, all will be well.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because most don’t want complicated storylines with their favorite romantic comedies. They want things simple.
However, if there is a problem with Nobody Wants This, it’s the plot being a little too simple. But, overall, it starts strong by letting Bell and Brody shine in how they effortlessly bring chemistry and charisma to this role.

The supporting characters are also equally strong. It’s full of actors known for being comedically brilliant, including Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Tovah Feldshuh, and many also have prior ties to Bell.
This makes things even more fun when you see her former co-workers (and friends) from The Good Place or Veronica Mars pop up at the most random moments.
Nobody Wants This’s first four episodes give a solid introduction to the series because of Bell and Brody’s chemistry. However, the storyline must become stronger to make us want to rewatch the series or want more seasons.
