Love is in the air! Based on the wildly successful graphic novels of the same name from Alice Oseman, Netflix’s beloved romantic coming-of-age series Heartstopper returns this October for Season 3.

Netflix recently shared a promo video on social media featuring the cast members of Heartstopper teasing their characters’ upcoming journey in Season 3.

“The tension is high—sexual tension, love—we’re all there,” Kit Connor, who plays the golden retriever-coded Nick Nelson, star of the rugby team and boyfriend to Joe Locke’s captivating Charlie Spring, gushed.

New developments include Charlie’s best friend, Tao Xu, beginning “to find a passion for something that he really loves.” Charlie’s sister, Tori, makes a bigger appearance in Season 3 because of “how Charlie has affected her” and gains “a new friend.”

In the new video, Yasmin Finney, who plays Ellie Argent, a talented art student and girlfriend to Tao, says, “The positive reaction from Season 2 really boosted all of our confidence.”

Netflix’s TUDUM shared a sneak peek at the eight-episode third season through its synopsis, which reads as follows:

The Season 3 premiere, suitably titled “Love,” picks up with Charlie eager to tell Nick that he loves him, and Nick holding on to something important he has to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.

“I cannot wait for the third season of Heartstopper to be released in October. Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues. And it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” Alice Oseman said in a statement, per Attitude

“While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up,” Oseman added.

“Mental health, sex, university ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood,” Oseman continued.

Heartstopper Season 3 wrapped filming in December 2023 after beginning production in October 2023.
