Romance is alive among the undead in the teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

The Walking Dead spinoff series, starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, will premiere in February 2024.

AMC Networks announced the news about the highly-anticipated show and other developments in The Walking Dead Universe during a New York Comic Con panel.

AMC Networks held an early screening of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon‘s Season 1 finale and shared that Melissa McBride will reprise her The Walking Dead role of Carol Peletier in the show’s previously-announced second season.

The panel also featured exclusive looks at AMC Networks’ anticipated series, like a teaser trailer for Orphan Black: Echoes and a new clip from Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire Season 2.

As for Lincoln and Gurira’s return to Rick and Michonne, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were,” per its official description.

The Walking Dead fans will know that Andrew Lincoln left the series during Season 9, which aired in 2018.

Then, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported in 2019 that Dana Gurira would leave the mothership series during Season 10, which aired in 2020.

Gurira’s Michonne left The Walking Dead to find Lincoln’s Rick, and the 30-second teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live illuminates what that journey may entail.

“I tried to get away. Please know I tried. I tried, but I failed. Just know, I love you,” Rick says over a montage of footage mainly from the original series. The spinoff series will see Rick and Michonne in another world against the dead — and living.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live‘s description asks, “Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”

AMC Network’s panel at New York Comic Con revealed that Pollyanna McIntosh will reprise the role of Jadis from The Walking Dead and the spinoff The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Also, Terry O’Quinn joins the cast as Beale and Matt Jeffries as Nat.

They join the previously announced cast of Lesley-Ann Brandy as Pearl.

Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, serves as showrunner and executive producer on The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Lincoln, Gurira, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath also executive produce.
