Melissa McBride to Reprise Her ‘The Walking Dead’ Role on ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’
Melissa McBride will step back into The Walking Dead‘s Carol Peletier’s shoes on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2.
AMC confirmed the news of her return at New York Comic Con, adding that the second season is currently in production in France and set to premiere in 2024.
McBride will be a series regular on Season 2, renamed The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. She originally played the role, alongside Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, on The Walking Dead for eleven seasons.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here,” McBride said.
“This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”
The exciting news out of The Walking Dead Universe comes just days ahead of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1 Episode 6, “Coming Home,” which airs on Sunday, October 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. McBride makes an appearance as Carol in that season finale.
The Walking Dead spinoff series made its series debut with The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1 Episode 1, “L’âme Perdue,” on Sunday, September 10.

AMC Networks reports the drama as “a ratings success on AMC+ and AMC to become the most-viewed premiere in the history of AMC+ and is pacing to be the most-viewed single series of any show ever on the platform.”
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon follows Reedus as Daryl Dixon when he tries to discover how and why he washes ashore in France.
“The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan,” per its official synopsis.
As announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023, the show scored an early Season 2 renewal alongside The Walking Dead: Dead City.

These developments about The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol aren’t the only The Walking Dead Universe updates AMC Networks shared at New York Comic Con.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol stars Reedus, McBride, Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney.
Showrunner David Zabel executive produces the series alongside Scott M. Gimple, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante.
The second half of the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead begins on Sunday, October 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. Plus, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick and Danai Gurira as Michonne, will premiere in February 2024.
