Based on the historical romance thriller novel by Thomas Mallon, Fellow Travelers Season 1 Episode 1, “You’re Wonderful,” showcases a meeting between two men in the 1950s that leads to a decades-long romance.

Meeting in the height of the McCarthy era, where being anything but a straight male is a crime, Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) runs into Timothy Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey) in a chance encounter.

Their meeting begins a long, explosive, on-and-off-again relationship that takes them through the 60s, 70s, and 80s as they live publicly without one another and maintain their life-long secret affair.

Episode Description:

Hawkins Fuller is a war hero moving up the ladder at the State Department, flirting with women while enjoying clandestine sex with men and avoiding emotional entanglements. Everything changes when Hawk meets religious Tim Laughlin: they begin an affair that puts them in jeopardy. In 1986, married Hawk receives a mysterious package and decides he must see Tim.
