Legendary’s Monsterverse continues in the teaser trailer for Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

The 10-episode sci-fi drama makes its global premiere with two episodes on Friday, November 17. New episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until the finale on January 12.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters follows two siblings who follow in their father’s footsteps to discover the truth about their family’s connection to the secretive organization, Monarch.

“Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows,” per its logline. Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell portray Lee Shaw.

The teaser trailer sees Kurt Russell’s Lee say, “The mission was to protect their world and ours. It’s what we wanted Monarch to be instead of chasing monsters.”

“The dramatic saga — spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives,” Monarch: Legacy of Monsters‘ logline reveals.

Apple TV+ released the first look at Monarch: Legacy of Monsters last month, but the teaser trailer is the first footage of the continuation of Legendary Entertainment’s interconnected universe of monster-centric stories.

Its teaser trailer even features Godzilla, with whom the franchise began in 2014’s Godzilla.

The Monsterverse continued with 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. It will gain another film with the highly-anticipated sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Until then, the Monsterverse is expanding to the small screen with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

The teaser trailer reveals John Goodman as part of the ensemble, too.

Shakman executive produces alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures, Andy Goddard, Brad Van Arragon, and Andrew Colville. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.

Toho licensed the rights to Legendary for “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” as a natural byproduct of their long-term relationship with the film franchise.
