Fellow Travelers Premiere Date Announced by SHOWTIME
The highly-anticipated limited series Fellow Travelers, starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey, has a premiere date.
The eight-episode drama will make its streaming debut on Friday, October 27, on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, two days before its linear debut on Sunday, October 29, at 9/8c on SHOWTIME.
Fellow Travelers will also premiere on October 27 on Paramount+ in Canada and the next day in the UK, Australia, Latin America, South Korea, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Based on the novel by Thomas Mallon and created for television by Ron Nyswaner, Fellow Travelers is both an epic love story and a political thriller that follows the romance between two very different men — Bomer’s Hawkins Fuller and Bailey’s Tim Laughlin — who meet in McCarthy-era Washington.
Hawkins “maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the scenes career in politics” and “avoids emotional entanglements” until Tim, who is “a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith.”
Hawkins and Tim’s romance begins at the same time that “Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants,” initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history,” per Fellow Traveler’s synopsis.
The SHOWTIME series spans four decades with five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus, Lucy, and Frankie – “as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.”
Fellow Travelers also stars Jelani Alladin as Marcus, Allison Williams as Lucy, and Noah J. Ricketts as Frankie.
Bomer and Nyswaner executive produce with Robbie Rogers and Dee Johnson. Fremantle and SHOWTIME c0-produce Free Travelers.
Daniel Minahan executive produces and also directs the first two episodes.
