Sex Education Teaser Trailer for Fourth and Final Season Released by Netflix

News, Sex Education

It’s almost time for Sex Education‘s final lesson.

Netflix announced that the teen show would come to an end with its upcoming fourth season, premiering all eight episodes on Thursday, September 21.

Sex Education was renewed for Season 4 at Netflix’s global fan event, TUDUM, in September 2021 — just a few days after Season 3 dropped on Netflix.

“We wanted to make a show that would answer some of the questions we all used to have about love, sex, friendship and our bodies,” Sex Education‘s creator, leader writer, and executive producer Laurie Nunn wrote in a letter to fans.

“Something that would have helped our inner teenagers feel a little less alone. It’s been overwhelming seeing how the show has connected with people around the world, and we hope it’s made some of you feel a little less alone too,” Nunn added.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but as the themes and stories of the new season crystallized, it became clear that this was the right time to graduate,” Nunn concluded.

Sex Education Season 4 synopsis is as follows:

Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier – their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students – they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being… kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A-Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the US, Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, whilst adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus…

Anthony Lexa, Felix Mufti, and Alexandra James will bring The Coven to the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Thaddea Graham will portray Otis’ competition.

Sex Education‘s returning cast members include Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro, Jim Howick, Rakhee Thakrar, and Daniel Ings.

As previously reported, other newcomers to Season 4 include Dan Levy as Thomas Molly, Maeve’s instructor at her U.S. Ivy League college. Other new cast members include Lisa McGrillis, Marie Reuther, Jodie Turner Smith, Eshaan Akbar, and newcomers Reda Elazouar, Bella Maclean, and Imani Yahshua.

The teaser trailer sees the Moordale Secondary team — mostly — cheering Otis on as he speaks to the college students, but he quickly makes things more awkward by saying, “Thinking about sex comes very naturally, because I learned everything I know about sex from my mom.”

Sex Education fans will likely notice that there are more than a few familiar faces missing from the teaser trailer. As previously reported, Patricia Allison is not returning for Season 4, and neither are Tanya Reynolds or Simone Ashley.

“We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode. They have worked tirelessly to bring you the final series, and we can’t wait to share it with you,” Nunn’s letter also stated.

Sex Education‘s Season 4 writers are Troy Hunter, Krishna Istha, Selina Lim, Ethan Harvey, Annalisa Dinnella, Bella Heesom, and Thara Popoola. Dominic Leclerc, Michelle Savill, and Alyssa McClelland are the season’s directors.

Jamie Campbell, Ben Taylor, and Clare Couchman are executive producers, with Callum Devrell-Cameron as a series producer and Rem Conway as a producer. Sex Education is produced by Eleven for Netflix, and filming took place in Wales, UK.
