Patricia Allison Not Returning for ‘Sex Education’ Season 4
Moordale Secondary School’s class of students will look very different in Sex Education Season 4 because Patricia Allison will not return as Ola Nyman.
Allison announced the news during a recent appearance on Capital Xtra breakfast.
“I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much and playing Ola, but unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for Season 4,” Allison said.

The radio show’s hosts expressed genuine reactions to the bittersweet news, to which Allison replied, “I’m so sorry to have to break it for you guys.”
Allison expressed excitement about future projects and agreed that the decision to leave the coming-of-age dramedy was a hard decision. “I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’ve, like, genuinely loved it,” Allison added.
It’s exciting that Allison has “other things” in the works, even if one of those things isn’t another season of Sex Education. TVLine has reached out to Netflix for comment about Allison’s announcement.
Patricia Allison is currently starring in the play A Doll’s House: Part II in London.

Allison joined Sex Education as Ola Nyman in the teen drama’s first season. Ola and Otis Milburn initially strike up a romance, but their sexual incompatibility (amongst other things) leads them to a break-up in Season 2.
Later that season, Ola discovers she has feelings for Lily Iglehart. Ola also develops a moving friendship with Adam Groff.
In the Season 3 finale, Ola’s father, Jakob, and Otis’ mother, Jean — who started dating in Season 2 — welcome Ola and Otis’ sister Joy.
Allison’s exit from the series doesn’t mean that Mikael Persbrandt won’t return as Jakob. However, it doesn’t bode well for Ola and Lily’s fan-favorite romance. Perhaps Sex Education will provide a creative explanation for the couple’s romance to endure Allison’s absence — at least for a little while.

Patricia Allison isn’t the only Sex Education cast member who won’t return for the series’ upcoming season. Upon her debut on Bridgerton as Kate Sharma, Simone Ashley said she wouldn’t reprise her role as Olivia Hanan.
Ashley has shared the news in multiple conversations, including an interview with Anna Moeslein for Glamour. “I think my time on [the show] has come to an end. It’s very sad because I love them all so much,” Ashley shared.
The immensely talented cast of this show continues to find plenty of opportunities. For example, most recently, Ncuti Gatwa — who plays Eric Effiong — joined Doctor Who as the 14th Doctor.
Sex Education was renewed for Season 4 only a week after Season 3 premiered. The announcement came during Netflix’s Tudum, a global fan event. There has been no confirmation of a premiere date.
