Alex and Henry Make History in ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Trailer
All historic romances are built out of damage control, right?
That’s how Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry’s love story starts in Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue after an international incident — otherwise known as Cake Gate — spurs an enemies-to-lovers romance as the two men pretend to be friends for optics.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively unveiled the trailer for the romantic comedy, based on Casey McQuiston’s novel with the same title, that starts streaming on Friday, August 11.

Red, White & Royal Blue, which debuted first-look images last month, tells the love story of the Prince of England and the son of the first woman President of the United States. Nicholas Galitzine is Henry and Taylor Zakhar Perez is Alex, while Uma Thurman fills the presidential role of Ellen Claremont.
Before sparks fly, though, Alex and Henry’s long-standing feud causes a sticky disaster at a Royal wedding that causes their teams, including Sarah Shahi’s Zahra Bankston on Alex’s side, to call a “truce.” That common ground makes way for a friendship that blossoms into something more as the trailer teases.
“Do you ever wonder who you would be if you were an anonymous person in the world?” Henry asks Alex before kissing him under the fireworks of Alex’s New Year’s Eve party. If that’s not romance, what is?
The Red, White & Royal Blue trailer takes that question and runs with it, showing how Alex and Henry bridge the ocean between them or cherish the moments they do get to spend with each other.

The trailer ends with Ellen encouraging Alex to himself if he feels forever about Henry, with Alex then telling Henry that they can “figure out how to love each other” on their own terms. It’s big and romantic and only a little over a month away
Red, White & Royal Blue‘s cast also includes Clifton Collins Jr., Rachel Hilson, with Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D. Clarke, Aneesh Sheth, and Juan Castano.
Matthew Lòpez, who makes his feature film co-writing and directing debut with the project, wrote the screenplay with Ted Malawer. Greg Berlanti, p.g.a., and Sarah Schechter, p.g.a, produced Red, White & Royal Blue, while López, Casey McQuiston, Michael Riley McGrath, and Michael S. Constable executive produced.
