Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 6 Review: The Web of Yesterdays
We might expect Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 6, “The Web of Yesterdays,” to start out with that nightmare-inducing creature from the previous cliffhanger. Instead, we get something resembling time travel— and different nightmare-inducing creatures.
It’s not time travel itself, which seems to be the one upheaval of reality that can’t exist in this world. Instead, Nancy finds herself attached to the form of someone who existed fifty years ago. She explains all this to us and to Tristan, who is pulled into the disco era with her.
The details of how the two wind up in this place—and why it exists in the first place– are a little fuzzy. It even feels as though it could be a fun bottle episode before we learn about the brutal deaths of the people whose forms they’ve taken over.

And then there’s the spider. The only that puts a sac of eggs into Nancy’s host and eats Tristain’s, then reforms from a mass of baby spiders in that sac, pulled from Nancy’s belly even after she’s rescued from the past, only for her friends to kill it just in time.
That being the condensed version of events, I can only encourage those with a fear of these wee beasties to keep the trigger warning in mind. It’s every bit as horrifying (and as gross) as it sounds, and the visuals…well, at least this show has some talented artists on its team.
It does mean that multiple characters get the chance to be heroes. We always know the Drew Crew is going to step up, but now Tristan gets a chance to prove himself as well, walking into a portal after Nancy is left behind and pulling her to reality before it collapses around them.

In the bigger picture, this means that the initial hints of a new love interest seem to be coming to fruition, however temporarily. Between the prom setting and the rescue with moments to spare, what comes at the very end of the episode may be inevitable.
There are a few plot points for all the other characters, but they wind up largely sidelined by the hour’s crisis. They range from Bess and George seeking revenge on their detractors to Nick and Ace chasing a ferret for Nancy, so thankfully, the stakes aren’t too high.
There’s even a silver lining to the distraction: after breaking into the historical society (a long story in itself), George tries to take the blame with the police before Bess actually does to save her friend’s legal career. And Carson will represent her! Camaraderie at its best.

The ferret thing is as straightforward as anything on this show, at least assuming Chunky Velez is just a ferret. But he’s also another pawn in heartbreak. When Ace catches the critter and tries to show Nancy, he finds her and Tristan dancing in her office.
Sure enough, the love triangle rears its ugly head. There are no winners in this moment, because while we’re stuck waiting even longer for Nace, it’s still almost certainly endgame. Tristan’s doomed to wind up with the short end of the stick, and so far, he’s a good guy who doesn’t deserve that.
Once again, all we can do is wait for everything to play out. Not just the romantic drama and new horrific being, but a threat that seems to lurk in the very walls of Nancy’s investigative hub. Is that better or worse that just seeing Nancy get involved with someone else?
