The Afterparty Season 2 Trailer Released by Apple TV+
Apple TV+’s The Afterparty is back with another murder mystery!
The streaming service released the Season 2 trailer before its two-episode premiere on Wednesday, July 12.
As reported in January, The Afterparty‘s 10-episode sophomore season was meant to premiere in April. Then, Apple TV+ announced that the murder mystery comedy would return in July, with new episodes premiering weekly until the finale on September 6.
The show that uncovers the truth behind murder mysteries through popular film genres debuted on Apple TV+ with The Afterparty Season 1 Episodes 1, 2, and 3 “Aniq / Brett / Yasper,” in January 2022. The debut season concluded with The Afterparty Season 1 Episode 8, “Maggie,” in March 2022.
Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Zoë Chao will reprise their roles on The Afterparty Season 2, which follows how “a wedding is ruined when the groom is murdered, and every guest is a suspect.”
Per the season’s synopsis, “Detective Danner returns to help Aniq and Zoë solve whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers, and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own unique perspective and visual style.”
The Afterparty‘s new cast of characters will be played by John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall, Zach Woods, and Vivian Wu.
Paul Walter Hauser’s “jealous ex” takes a film noir approach to his “mind movie,” as Detective Danner calls them, while Ken Jeong’s “desperate father-in-law” opts for a Regency-inspired tale.
But that’s only two takes on a mystery where even Poppy Liu’s “unhappy bride” is a suspect in the murder of Zach Woods’ groom.
From Chis Miller and Phil Lord, Apple TV+ produces The Afterparty by TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television as part of Lord and Miller’s expansive five-year overall television deal.
Miller executive produces the show alongside Lord through the pair’s production banner, Lord Miller. Lord Miller’s SVP of Television, Aubrey Lee, is a producer on the series.
