Stranger Things Animated Series Ordered at Netflix
The Stranger Things universe is expanding with an animated series at Netflix.
Per Variety’s report, details about the latest addition to the Stranger Things franchise are under wraps, but Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions are developing the series.
Matt and Ross Duffer, who created the Netflix giant that debuted in 2016, released a statement about the animated series greenlight. They will executive produce the project with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Robles.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday-morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement, per TV Line.
“We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you. The adventure continues…,” they added.
The Stranger Things‘ Writers Room shared a tweet celebrating the news, stating, “Very excited about this!”
Though this animated series will take place in the same universe as Stranger Things, it is not the only anticipated spinoff of the Netflix series.

An exclusive report from Deadline in July 2022 stated that the Duffers shared plans for a live-action spinoff series when announcing the formation of their production company, Upside Down Pictures. There are still no details on that project.
Additionally, the Stranger Things franchise will extend to London’s West End stage in late 2023 with Stranger Things: The First Shadow, according to Netflix’s TUDUM.
Beyond all of these extensions of the massive hit, Netflix is still set to deliver the fifth and final season of the mothership series. The renewal came a few months before Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. I debuted on the streaming service in May.
The Duffer brothers shared the news through an open letter to fans on social media. There is no premiere date for the animated series or Stranger Things‘ swan song.
