Station 19 Renewed for Season 7 at ABC
Let’s hear it for 19!
Station 19 has been renewed for Season 7 by ABC.
Per Deadline, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series, created by Stacy McKee, will see Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige serve as showrunners and executive producers in the new season. Both Clack and Paige have been producers on the show.
“I feel incredibly honored to be entrusted with this dynamic and relevant show alongside Peter. The diversity of the cast, writers, and crew in addition to their enormous talent and dedication to their craft makes this a thrilling adventure to undertake,” Clack said in a statement, per TV Line.
“We are excited about the stories we get to tell using this worldwide platform and both understand the responsibility of being able to share them as we reach into millions of homes weekly. Many thanks to Krista and Shondaland for this opportunity and their faith in us,” Clack added.
“I’m beyond honored to be handed the reins to Station 19 — a show I love, full of incredible, complex characters and resonant, important stories,” Paige continued.
“To get to partner with a talent like Zoanne as showrunners truly makes it all the more exciting — we share a similar vision for the show, and we’ve got some incredible twists and turns planned for the coming season. A huge thank you to the entire team at Shondaland, and everyone at ABC for their faith in us,” Paige added.
“And eternal gratitude to Krista Vernoff, for bringing me into the 19 family, and for modeling conscious leadership in such a powerful and deliberate way,” Paige concluded.
Clack and Paige take over for Krista Vernoff, who is stepping down as showrunner from Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy after their current seasons.
“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be entrusted to run Grey’s Anatomy for the past six years and Station 19 for the last four,” Vernoff said in a statement exclusively reported by Deadline.
“The passion of the dedicated fandoms and the impact that these shows have on hearts and minds cannot be overstated. The amount of talent in these two extraordinary casts and these two brilliant writers rooms is beyond measure — and these crews work magic week after week,” Vernoff added.
As previously reported, Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for Season 20, with series executive producer Meg Marinis stepping up as showrunner.
The news of the firefighting show’s renewal broke ahead of Station 19 Season 6 Episode 15, “What Are You Willing to Lose,” airing on ABC.
Station 19‘s Season 6 finale is set to air on Thursday, May 18, at 8/7c on ABC. Stacy McKee, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Paris Barclay are executive producers of the series.
The ABC series, produced by Shondaland and ABC Signature, stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Jay Hayden, Danielle Savre, Boris Kodjoe, Stefania Spampinato, Carlos Miranda, Josh Randall, Merle Dandridge, and Pat Healy.
