Sam Page Joins ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 19 in a Recurring Role
A new patient is checking into Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital!
The Bold Type and Mad Men‘s Sam Page is joining Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 in a recurring role.
Per Variety’s exclusive report, Page will first appear as Sam Sutton on the episode titled “Come Fly With Me,” airing on Thursday, May 4 on ABC.

Sam is “an Air Force pilot who is seriously injured in a base-jumping accident. Although he’s coping with trauma, he somehow maintains his sense of humor and charm,” according to the character description released by ABC.
Coincidentally, Page played Richard Hunter, a publishing executive, on The Bold Type, who eventually married Meghann Fahy’s Sutton Brady, a successful fashion stylist.
TV Line reports that the logline for “Come Fly With Me” reveals Link will deal “with his own self-doubt as he preps for a massive surgery.”
This story tracks with the bad press Link has received since the Seattle Seahawk’s Jermaine “Tank” Talbott died on Link’s operating table on Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Episode 8, “All Star.”

It’s unclear how long Page’s Sam Sutton will stick around Grey Sloan Memorial or who he will interact with the most in the hospital’s staff.
For reference, Skylar Astin joined Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 in a recurring role and appeared in four episodes, and Astin’s Todd Eames interacted with Camilla Luddington’s Jo the most.
Page’s appearances on the medical drama will occur after Kelly McCreary makes her exit as Dr. Maggie Pierce after nine seasons. McCreary’s penultimate episode as a series regular is Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Episode 13, “Cowgirls Don’t Cry,” airing on ABC this Thursday.
Regardless of casting shake-ups, as previously reported, Grey’s Anatomy received an early Season 20 renewal last month. Executive producer Meg Marinis will serve as showrunner on the new season, taking over for Krista Vernoff. Vernoff is stepping down from the role on both Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 after their current seasons.
