Servant Season 4 Episode 6 Review: Zoo

Reviews, Servant

The truth behind Bev and Bobbie finally comes out. Unfortunately, it’s a bit disappointing on Servant Season 4 Episode 6, “Zoo.”

At the start, we know that something isn’t as it seems with the friendly caregivers. First, they are very intrusive, nosey, and a bit pushy. On Servant Season 4 Episode 3, “Séance,” Bobbie proves that she isn’t in the cult, but Bev’s innocence is never proven.

We all forget this because of their link.

Cleverly, the Servant writers know that we all view Bev and Bobbie as a unit. Because they’re connected and have a seemingly close relationship, we assume that if one isn’t in the cult, then they both aren’t members of it.

This assumption allows the writers to trick us (at least me) and shock us with the Bev reveal. It’s a commendable move. However, it’s not an exciting reveal.

Bev and Bobbie’s whole storyline thus far has been the mystery surrounding them.

Are they in the cult? Do they possess powers? Are they villains or heroes?

Will they take down Leanne?

Seemingly, they add nothing real to this battle. Bev dies, and Bobbie moves on to her next gig. There is a lot of building up to the Bev twist, so it feels a little flat when she’s simply another cult member.

Contrasting Bev being in a cult reveal with the Julian and Sean showdown, the showdown plays out much more excitingly.

It not only has some really funny moments but it leads to a possible breakthrough for Julian. Finally, he sees Leanne’s powers.

It’s unclear whether he always could see them and decides to ignore them or he really only sees them for the first time when she kills Bev. Either way, it’s good to see Julian start to wake up.

However, he still follows anything Leanne tells him — whether out of fear or loyalty is still unknown. Because Julian still comes when Leanne calls, Sean and Dorothy may need to find someone else to help them.

Wise, but not a witch (?) Bobbie offers the most important statement of “Zoo.” Clearly, Leanne worships Dorothy like her new religion.

This links these two women in a potentially deadly way.

Since the beginning of Servant, things seem to head in one direction: the eventual death of Dorothy. She may end up sacrificing herself if it also means the destruction of Leanne.

Additionally, on every episode, Dorothy gets closer to remembering Jericho’s death. When she remembers, she probably cannot live with what she did.

The Jericho memories and possibly taking Leanne down with her own death may lead to a very intense end to both of their stories.

Stray Thoughts
  • I shudder to think what happens to that poor baby.
  • The young couple being the neighbors in the cult also adds to the disappointing cult reveals.
  • The hurtful things Sean says to Julian have clearly been building up, so that makes this scene so captivating.
  • I am so happy the animals didn’t face a gruesome death on this episode.
  • Kourtney may be Servant‘s best recurring character. She’s always good for a laugh.
  • The zoo party is so embarrassing. Dorothy’s disdain for it is justified.
  • This Servant Season has been so fight-scene-heavy.
