Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 13 Review: The Ghost in You
Plenty can be said about Hank Voight, but no one can argue the man will do whatever he can to protect those he cares about or sees worthy of the city. That is exactly what happens on Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 13, “The Ghost in You.”
ASA Nina Chapman knows if she wants something done, she has to trust Voight will do it. However, things get tricky when Voight realizes she isn’t being completely honest with him.
When will everyone learn you cannot hide the truth from Voight? And truth be told (being redundant is important here), Hank will always defend the people he knows are acting for the greater good.

Chapman is lying because she knows coming forward and saying she was sleeping with her informant would ruin her career and reopen every case she ever worked on. But we can also tell she doesn’t want to be judged for her actions.
After ten seasons of Chicago P.D. we know if there is one thing Hank Voight will not do, is judge others for their actions. He has made plenty of mistakes and has been judged his entire career for being who he is; he knows better.
When he finds out Chapman’s secret (putting two and two together and proving he still is a great cop), he doesn’t share it with anyone and goes straight to the source. His first instinct is to protect Chapman as long as she is honest with him.
This is exactly where Chapman realizes everyone before her had been wrong about Voight, “I heard all these stories about you.” And yes, Voight has done plenty to build his reputation, but also to tear it down.
However, the most interesting thing to come out of this interaction is the fact that Voight doesn’t know if he is still the man from those stories. As much as he will still push the boundaries, he isn’t the terrorizing man he once was.
Direct proof of that is that he hasn’t used his cage (besides locking the perp in it on “The Ghost in You”) to scare confessions out of people. Is this growth?

Chapman, just like Olivia Benson and Samantha Miller once did, tries to buy Voight a drink, but he rejects the offer at least for now.
This sheds light on a big conversation we have never had on Chicago P.D. How much longer can Hank Voight keep doing this alone?
The episode starts with him visiting Olinsky’s grave, showing Voight has truly loved the people in his life. But also showing he misses the comradery the two used to share.
Besides that friendship, his dead son, his living-out-of-state grandson, and Erin, we haven’t seen Voight connect with anyone else. There were hints during crossovers with Benson and some sparkles with Miller.
Will we ever see a love interest for Hank Voight? Or will he forever be the lonely cop who is too damage to fall in love again?
Personally, I would love to see the show explore that side of Voight and prove he isn’t just a tough, macho cop who bends the rules.

Aside from Voight being front and center, Chicago P.D. deliveres yet another amazing episode for Torres.
First and foremost, he is wearing something other than his regular white shirt and jeans. The outfit change proves (as we could deduct by the way the storyline was developing) he finally feels he belongs in the Intelligence Unit.
He no longer needs to have an unofficial uniform to be a part of the team. He is a part of the team because his work has proven him worthy.
Truth be told, Torres is an amazing undercover officer. Every time he goes undercover, we get to see his best work. “The Ghost in You” is no exception, and his dynamic with Adam and their suspect is evidence that he can take any challenges thrown his way.
What stands out from Torres is his perfect use of his position as a bilingual individual. He knows exactly when to speak Spanish and when to speak English.
This also proves to be the bridge between both of his worlds. One foot on the life he grew up in and one foot in the life he wanted to build for himself.

Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 13, “The Ghost in You” reminds us why this show works and why we are so invested in every character.
Even though the show takes turns highlighting every character, they are all a key component of every episode. Without one of them, the episodes do not feel like the show we love.
“The Ghost in You” has the right amount of every character to allow Voight and Torres to shine for who they are. And they are two very different individuals who understand each other and can co-exist to make the team better.
