Mythic Quest World to Expand with Companion Series ‘Mere Mortals’ on Apple TV+
The Mythic Quest world will expand with Mere Mortals, a companion series, on Apple TV+.
The streaming service unveiled the eight-episode extension series today, sharing that it comes from Ashly Burch (who stars on Mythic Quest as game tester Rachel), John Howell Harris, and Katie McElhenney. Megan Ganz, Rob McElhenney, David Hornsby, and Charlie Day will serve as executive producers.

Per the logline, “Mere Mortals will explore the lives of employees, players, and fans who are impacted by the game.”
The show will be similar to some of the original show’s most acclaimed and notable departures, like the upcoming Mythic Quest Season 3 Episode 7, “Sarian,” which debuts on Friday, December 16.
Likewise, Mere Mortals will take a page out of episodes like Mythic Quest Season 1 Episode 11, “Everlight,” when the MQ employees come together for their annual and unique Everlight party.
Notably, “Everlight” earned the series a Primetime Emmy Award for Oustanding Narrator for Anthony Hopkins’ contribution to the episode.

Long-time viewers will also remember other standalone episodes, like Mythic Quest Season 1 Episode 5, “A Dark Quiet Death,” that followed characters Doc and Bean, portrayed by Jake Johnston and Cristin Milioti, over the course of 20 years.
Plus, there’s Mythic Quest Season 1 Episode 10, “Quarantine,” featuring the cast interacting primarily through digital spaces like Zoom. Not to forget, Mythic Quest Season 2 Episode 6, “Backstory!” took the show back in time to learn more about the game’s writer C.W. Longbottom.
Though Mythic Quest is currently airing its third season on Apple TV+, the acclaimed comedy series has already been renewed for Season 4.
Mere Mortals will be produced for Apple TV+ by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ubisoft. Nick Frenkel, Michael Rotenberg, Jason Altman, and Margaret Boykin will also serve as executive producers. There is no premiere window for the new series.
